Recommended Posts

not sure this is in the right section, but.... im planning to go to Great America, out in California.... anyone have any suggestions? rides? food? (rides my mom can go on with a bad back? she only rides Viking Fury and the ride formerly known as Top Gun at Kings Island, as far as 'thrill rides' go) everybody had GREAT suggestions for Cedar Point last summer so i figured i would ask again... ^_^

Even though it seems mild to enthusiasts, I do NOT recommend she ride Grizzly. Even the park advertises the thing as having "bumps:"

...Rugged hills and bumps make this a great ride for everyone!

Note that the park puts several of its rides under BOTH thrill rides and family rides. Frankly, there isn't much there in the nature of family rides...

The double decker carousel is not to be missed, but would be hard to miss, given that it is at the entrance! :)

For what it's worth, here's the park's list of family rides:

Now, let's be totally honest with each other...what would I do? I'd take her to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, a far superior park with great family rides, a picturesque ocean setting, and a GREAT wooden coaster, The Giant Dipper. You will have a fantastic time. If there is time, I'd also go to California's Great America, but that would be my third priority, behind SCBB and SFDK. SFDK has many great rides and the animals as well. It's up in Vallejo. All this competition may be why I just this moment received an email offering 4 packs of CGA season passes for $59.99 each, and even refunds of the difference if I had already paid...and yes, this includes free parking.
