This is classic step one in a phase out of a brand name....or it may not be. It might be based on an effort to avoid bringing up what is now a very vivid reminder of what once was and no longer is. . . the name "Geauga Lake."

This move would not surprise me at all. I think that it would make more sense to shorten the name.
