Dollywood Request

Recommended Posts

My family and I will be visiting Dollywood for the first time next week.

Does anyone have some suggestions, or hints for first timers at the park? Our family consists of 2 adults, one 48" tall boy, and a 40" tall girl.

Thanks in advance.

48" tall or more will be able to about everything at dollywood and even 40" will be able to do most everything. You may be tempted to go to the left at entering to hit Thunderhead and Mystery Mine right away but I suggest taking the opposite direction of the loop. Make sure not to miss the Mountain Slidewinder (the #1 non rollercoaster ride in america.. (according to who i'm not sure but they advertise that)) Don't miss the train for it's nostalgia and to take a peak at the future mystery construction, Blazing Fury for it's dark rideness, and don't miss TN Tornado because in my opinion and many others it's the best Arrow coaster ever built but it's over nearly as soon as it begins. I don't have to say don't miss Thunderhead and Mystery Mine because their pretty much a given but if Timber Tower is broken down (as it normally is, I expect to see the ride leaving sometime due to all it's down time) but if it's broken down it's alright your not missing much there. It's a kinda like the opposite of Delerium just at a much slower and much less thrilling pace. With the kiddies in mind I'd say the country fair area will be a hit for you and with Kids Fest going on there will be more for the kids than normal, and normally there's a lot. This year they are having Creature Adventures with Zooboomafoo (sp?) so that should be a hit as well as Veggie Tales. Remember when it comes to Dollywood the rides are less than half of it, make sure to check out some shows, some food (the one's where you see them cooking), and even the shops especially the Blacksmith shop where they have real Blacksmiths, and the glass making shop where you can see that being made.

Not sure if you noticed or not but I'm a big fan of Dollywood as it's my home park about 25 minutes down the road from me.
