Coasterkidman
This is my first trip report, roll with me here. . . We got to Boomerang Bay around 10:55. We walked up to the long wait for the Entrance, which streched to the parking lot. The line moved reletivly slowly, but it moved so that we got to the Security Gates around 11:15. We had to walk across a security road and a car came so two security men had to move the line so they could get through, which slowed the line a bit. I realized that they only had 3 security gates which I guess made sence since this was only a water park. I had only gone to Boomerang Bay once before that was last season, so I knew where to put my stuff and all but not much else. We walked over toards Great Berrier Reef (Wave Pool) and found a nice few chairs underneath a tree. We decided to start off the day with the wave pool, thinking it was the best way to warm up to cooling off. I noticed that the cycles for the waves were Very long, they would go about 5 minutes without waves and 10 minutes with waves. It was a very nice, relaxing pool. On a scale off one to 10, as far as wave pools go I give it a 7.5. I went over to Down Under Thunder with my little brother, remembering last years experience and hoping the had given it some TLC (or some Re-Hab!), and I was wrong. We were greeted with the same old peeling blue paint and the many slow helixes. I rode number 3 and got stuck 4 times. I figured if they had more drops and less helixes it would be a little more enjoyable. Final Rating: 5. After that terrible experience I rode a ride I had never layed eyes on before, the Sydney Sidewinder. The innertubes were small and comfy, and the line was short. The ride attendents were very nice and actually asked if I wanted to go forward, backward, or spun. I said spun and was given one Crazy ride. The sidewinding and quick turns coupled with my insane twisting gave me a very fun ride. Final Rating: 8 The Sydney Sidewinder left me dazed, I thought I should ride a ride that would cool me down, I did just the opposite. The Snowy River Rampage was a ride I didn't even know exsisted, and as I crossed the bridge over the Crocodile River I saw not only a little water tower thing (Which was very nice), but a ride that was twisting, turning, and dropping, and I had to ride it. The waiting que just blew me away how long it was, but when I got to the top I knew it was worth it. I found myself in a duel station, with 2 seprate entries and between them a lift thing which spit out 8-person-innertubes. I wondered why they had a lift come up instead of like Sydney Sidewinder where you would pick them up at the Entrance. I looked over the Que and I found the lift to be at least 50 feet high, which told me this would have some serious speed at the end. When i rode it I was blown away, the insane speeds coupled with the huge turns were compareable to the Sydney Sidewinder, but halfway through the ride I found the ride twisting through the woods, a scene that added a whole new dimension to the ride. And by the time we reached the bottom we had some speed goin. Final Rating: 9.9. After Re-Visiting the Great Barrier Reef I went over to the Awesome Aussie Twister. This was an intense Water ride. What it would do is it would, while dropping, twist with the other tube next to you. The twisting looked intimidating, but really didn't add to much to the ride. All it ment was that you would be quickly changing direction. Let me tell (Warn) you: Hold you're nose at the bottom. The speed at the end is just so surreal that your only instinct is to close your eyes and wait for it to stop. And when you do stop, the water flies all over you're body and into your nose. But besides that this is one crazy ride. Final Rating: 8 The final ride of the day was the Coolangatta (sp?) Racer. This was one ride I did have high expectations for. The line was long and the wind was brutle. I was freezing to death up there 7 stories high or how ever high that tower was. When I finally got to the top I was starting to have some regrets. The tunnels were close to pich dark and the drop was pretty tall. That wouldn't have bothered me if it werent for the fact that the entire time I would be riding on a little plastic mat, laying down and holding on. By the time I got to the number 3 station, I was trying to see if I remembered any prayers from that one time I went to Church. I got on my stomach, held on tight, and left the gate. The Helix had to be the best part. The Lateral G's were great, the near pich blackness of the tunnel, and not to mention the occasional splash of water in you're face to keep you going. The drop was fun, it certainly would be a ride without the drop. But the C. Racer was amazing. No Doubt about it. Final Rating: 9 Overall: If you're looking for an amazing waterpark with fonaminal rides and all, try the Beach. But if you happen to have a Gold pass to Kings Island and are scorching hot one day, Boomerang Bay is here to satisfy. There is very good themeing, pretty good rides, and good service. As far as water parks go, Final Rating: 7.5 -Coasterkidman
