Phantom Theater Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 The coaster "CobRa" derailed yesterday, and just crashed straight into the pavement. That would be scary! http://www.rideaccidents.com/ Quote
markalan Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 News article here. Kind of funny the article shows a pic of a Kingda Ka train. Quote
KIBeast Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks for the link! I've had dreams that ended like that. That's why I skip carnivals. Rides constantly being torn down and put back up do not have my confidence in their operation. Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 ^Now count the number of posts that will follow that say stuff like "Well actually, those rides are safer than amusement park rides because they get inspected by blah, blah, blah..." I'm with ya there, KIBeast. I prefer my rides to be in one place and not moved around every week! Quote
KIBeast Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 You're right about that. I've also heard that in California and other states, these carnivals often escape inspections. Quote
Browntggrr Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 http://www.rcdb.com/id4021.htm This ride has been operating for only 9 days? And the trains fell apart? Are ya kidding me? Quote
WooferBearATL Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Well as park veterans, I think that all most of us need to do is look at the various carnival rides. When I go to a carnival and see rides propped up on wood blocks and just rocking back and forth, it's just a disaster in the making. http://www.rcdb.com/id4021.htm This ride has been operating for only 9 days? And the trains fell apart? Are ya kidding me? Mental Note, do not buy roller coasters from WalMart. Quote
dare-to-fly Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Well as park veterans, I think that all most of us need to do is look at the various carnival rides. When I go to a carnival and see rides propped up on wood blocks and just rocking back and forth, it's just a disaster in the making. Perhaps, but how often do you hear of accidents happening on said old rickety rides? On the other hand, I can think of twice that I've ridden carnival rides and had a safety cable fall off and had to be put back on. I've also seen things that make me question an entire operation, but yet I still ride every year. Quote
