Parking Costs as Much as the Park

Featured Replies

Found this on Screamscape and I checked it out on SixFlags Great Americas Website. The 09 seasson pass is $69.00 and the parking pass is $65.00. Seriously that is the crazziest seasson pass offer I have ever seen. I know that the total price with parking and seasson pass is around the cost of a Platinum Pass, but I just think the way they are advertising will decrease the sale of parking passes. I think buyers will look at it like they would a TV priced $499 or $500, majority of the time they will buy the one for $499.

Just find it interesting pricing strategy.

I agree with you Railrider. My first thought, was OH! They must think that parking in their concrete parking lot for a year is as fun as a season spent in their park!

Whether the pricing works out to be what they really want to charge or not. The advertising/marketing angle just looks horrid on that deal.

Funny you put it that way, I kind of think that parking in their lot for a year is almost as fun as visiting the park for a year. I just find Great America rather horrid.

^I'm in total agreement. Last year I moved up here (I now live in Chicago suburbs) and I bought a season pass to that park. I'll never do it again. This year I got a season pass to Cedar Point! :P And I made 3 trips for a total of 7 days of greatness @ CP. Totally worth the 5 hr drive. Great America is a poorly-designed, well over-crowded park with very mediocre rides. Raging Bull is probably the most boring hyper I've been on, and Superman is just dumb. Not to mention the 1.5 hr wait for it.

That is way too funny, I almost spat out what I was drinking when I read that. I had to quote you on it.

SuperWait: Ultimate Letdown!! ;)

Although, to be fair, the pretzel loop is probably my second most favorite inversion to Storm Runner's flying snake dive.
