ok, I've been visiting my beloved Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom for 10 years now and I do think it's approaching it's dimmise.....I went one day and it was kinda sad walking around the park looking at old stuff that needs love bad! I think if they can grab some of the convention center area since the Louisville Cardinals switched from freedom hall to the Yum Center that they could expand but right now theere land locked with no where to go.....I think the park could still make really good buisnees like it is now if it was just a waterpark but I really don't want it to happen....I just hope that my next visit is the last... :(

i'm not sure how true it is, but i heard that they bought alot of land somewhere close to kentucky speedway and are, in the near future, moving the park there.

once again this is just what i heard by several different people.

very, very interesting....... If it is true then it could be a swing or a miss or a home run.....Moving away from louisville possibley means loseing some buisnees but then again finally haveing room and no height restriction it could be a wise desicion.

i do know that i would love for this to happen, mainly because i just live about a half hour away from kentucky speedway.

So? Why is that a reason that you don't want it to happen?

when did i say i didn't want it to happen?

Oh sorry I read the post wrong! But idk if I would like this or not I really want SFKK to expand but then I would live almost an hour and a half way istead of 45 min.....

Here's the last line of YOUR first post in this thread:

The Kentucky Speedway rumor was true. About ten years ago! Before the Speedway was built. Premier Parks, then owner of Six Flags, looked at relocating Kentucky Kingdom to what is now the Speedway and to compete with Kings Island. It was only after this fell through, they decided to develop Six Flags Ohio into a world class Cedar Point competitor. We know how that ended.

Kentucky Kingdom is currently a Six Flags park. As long as it remains so, and SIX remains under current ownership/management, I would not look for major investments at any SIX park. I do foresee an ownership/management change coming soon. How that may end, only the divine knows.

The brand name has tremendous equity to this day. The name will probably stay, but may not. The parks themselves...most of them...will continue to operate, but as what and by whom? That's the rub.

Well I think most chains are done buying properties right now, especially Cedar Fair.

As you learn about the park industry, you will. There are very few ride manufacturers still based in the USA. As time goes by, I suspect the day will come when few park owners are based here. Already, you have Kennywood Entertainment based elsewhere. At one time, a foreign water company, yes..water company, had a major investment in Universal.
