Great you qualified, doesn't mean you must go, especially if financialy dificult. Also what ever happend to winning your local league and maybe a regional tournament, being happy with that and taking the kids out for pizza afterward. I know from all the years I played of youth sports I enjoyed it greatly and never was promised a trip to Disney for winning. Is it necessary absolutely not... How stressful would that be for a little kid. I loved youth sports and competing was great so I'd be in favor of a national championship but this just looks like a cash cow for Disney. Whats wrong with winning your local league and being happy with that? I think it comes from parents pushing their kids and they put them on these traveling teams and its crazy. They think they have the next major leaguer on their hands. All through school I played baseball. Before highschool I played in the local leagues and was recruited to play a traveling team. I hated it because my entire summer was centered around games and raising money for various tournaments. Did it make me a better player? No. Only played half a seasson on a traveling team and quite organized baseball, left a bad taste in my mouth. Played for my high school once I was a Freshman and was all state my senior year. Thats why I say if Disney can charge for the tournament and teams will come, then good for them, but dont complain your team cant afford it. Thats not Disney's fault. Avatar Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 POP Warner is huge business for Disney; if I am right Pop Warner just resigned a contract with Disney for many years. Disney has been having problems with some Pop Warner teams and has asked teams to leave the Disney property in the middle of the night. In the Disney rumor board Pop wanted to stay with Disney and Disney wanted tighter restrictions on the teams coming in (disruptions). A lot of teams from a large verity of youth sports teams aspire to play at Disney year after year. It’s like everything else good for some and not for others. Many of the parents, who traveled with my step sons traveling hockey team, liked their kids playing with other kids who had parents who cared enough to spend the time and money on their kids, because those parents usually took more interest in their kids.
