September 24, 200916 yr Well, that stinks. That was such a nice park, and now the Starliner is in jeopardy again. Not to mention Triple Hurricane. I wish them well, and hope they can find someone to buy the park and get it running again.
October 3, 200916 yr Author The Sept. 23 closure of Cypress Gardens and its Splash Island Water Park in Winter Haven has left tourism experts uncertain about the park’s future — and nearby businesses wondering how that will affect them. Cypress Gardens, an iconic, 150-acre theme park on Cypress Gardens Road — one of Florida’s oldest tourist attractions — was known for its water skiing shows, Southern belles, rides, zoo and gardens. Eric Hinshaw, third-generation owner of Chalet Suzanne Restaurant & Inn, which is about eight miles away in Lake Wales, said his business often drew customers who came to town to attend events at Cypress Gardens such as concerts. “We fed off each other,” he said.
