Cypress Gardens, an iconic, 150-acre theme park on Cypress Gardens Road — one of Florida’s oldest tourist attractions — was known for its water skiing shows, Southern belles, rides, zoo and gardens. Eric Hinshaw, third-generation owner of Chalet Suzanne Restaurant & Inn, which is about eight miles away in Lake Wales, said his business often drew customers who came to town to attend events at Cypress Gardens such as concerts. “We fed off each other,” he said.
