Hey KIC!

If there can be 'TR''s of job interviews, I assume this can fit.

A week ago I got ot go to the Avenged Sevenfold & Buckcherry Concert at the Bank of Kentucky Center. It was my first big concert outside of Bogarts and other smaller, second tier venues. I moshed around, and went crowd surfing 4 times!

Saving Abel opened up, and I was only familiar with the songs, Addicted; 18 Days; and New Tattoo. They opened up very strong, and interacted with the crowed well! They sounded great, and I'd recommend anyone else to see them if you like plain rock 'n roll with a twist from the south!

They played 30 minutes, I'm not sure of the setlist, but I heard Addicted and 18 Days last; and new Tattoo was in the middle.

Papa Roach came out next, and completely tore the place apart! Lead singer Jacoby was absolutely insane! He got the place going crazy, and he jumped off the stage and went into the crowd on the side, telling them to "Stand the f*** up, this is a mother f'n rock concert!!!!"

They played:

-Between Angels and Insects (opening)

-...To Be Loved

Some older stuff

-Scars

-Forever

-Hollywood Whore

-Getting Away With Murder

-Last Resort

Buckcherry took their time coming out, and they started off pretty slow...seeming like all they wanted to do is play and then get back to the bus. But once they played songs that everyone was familiar with, they finished very strong. Lead singer Josh Todd claims that, "there's one thing not to miss in life. And that's great, crazy sex!" And he went on and on about it, lmao.

-Next To You (opening)

-Onset

-Lit Up

-Broken Glass

-Rescue Me

-Out of Line

-Too Drunk

-Everything

-Sorry

-Crazy *****

Finally, Avenged Sevenfold came out. They were absolutely amazing. Synyster Gates played a GREAT solo. They promised to come back during the summer!

-Unholy Confessions (opening)

-Chapter Four

-Afterlife

-Brompton ****tail

-Bat Country

-Gunslinger

-Dear God

-Beast and the Harlot

-Solo

-Scream

-Critical Acclaim

-Almost Easy

Sorry I'm so short on details....ask questions and I'll be sure to answer!

^I'd say almost 50% of the people at the concert didn't like Buckcherry....just from hearing people in my area talking about them. It was also funny when Josh said, "I wanna see everyone jumping!" Or "Clap for me" ....there were only about 20 people who listened, hahhaa. I liked a few of their songs, though....but Everything, the song I really like....sounded like CRAP! I'm not sure if someone was out of tune, or there was too much distortion, it just didn't sound good at all.

Zach, nice trip report. I would like to see more show/concert reports on here. (My show days are pretty much over...you will find as you get older it becomes harder and harder to find one of your friends who has stayed "current" with new music...then you have to find one who is even able to go because thay are either married or working...enjoy your youth!)

Anyway, the report was a lot of fun to read...and interesting. I work in an independent record store...one of the last of a dieing breed...and the line-up would be out of order if that tour played our area. Around here Buckcherry blows Avenged Sevenfold off the map...I can't believe they were one of the opening bands...it's also weird to see Papa Roach so far down on the list...they don't sell like they used to, but it's hard to believe that they don't mind opening for an opening band. (Saving Abel sell decent around here also.)

It is great that you crowd surfed...when I used to go to the shows, if I didn't like a paticular group, I could be just as easily entertained by the crowd.

Keep the trip reports coming!

Ain't that the truth! What I've been doing more and more is going by myself. If I have a friend that can go, that's good, but going solo is fine if you don't mind doing it. But since I now have a family, my overall number of shows has definitely decreased the past couple of years!

I do almost everything solo. If I want to do something, I hate waiting for someone to go with. I usually meet interesting people at the thing I'm doing anyway. That being said, I don't mind doing things with a friend or a group, it just seems I'm by myself mostly.

^I really think that is good that you can do this...but I do not have the type of personality that usually just starts talking to someone I don't know...I never want to risk bothering someone...I have had that happen to myself at places and I never want to be one of those "Boy was he annoying" people. (Although I am sure I fail sometimes!)

I really don't mind being AT a show alone, because I never really want to talk during the music...it's the drive to the show and after that I don't like. There is something about being able to review the show with someone instantly that makes it fun for me...I like the "OH, did you see that"..."Can you believe they DIDN'T do that song" conversation!

As a reference...I (obviously) love Kings Island...but going to the park "alone" is not the same as being with someone. I went to the first KIC Day "alone" because I just had to do the special events. On that trip I only talked to one person for about 30 seconds...it was the worst trip I have ever taken to the park. (I have never wanted to leave the park so fast...I didn't even hang around for the ERT.)

Now, like you, I would not hesitate going to a KIC event "alone" because I do not feel like I am going alone...which I still find both amazing...and scary...I keep wondering if I have become too involved with this site. (But like Linus says in It's The Great Pumpkin..."Please don't tell me, I don't wanna know".)

(Also, sorry Zach that your trip report has been derailed so bad.)

I don't mind going it alone, in fact most everything I do by myself...

I went and saw A7X at the Murat in Indy a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. Halestorm and Gwen Stacy opened for them, I'd never heard of them before and they were decent, maybe not my favorite, but they were pretty good. Avenged Sevenfold blew me away though, we were about thirty feet back from the stage, right in front of Synyster Gates. His solo was phenomenal, especially when it built up and they just started jamming with it. And The Rev is my hero, if I could choose one person to influence my drumming it would be him, and in fact he has quite a bit...
