dare-to-fly Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 The picture on the flier is fascinating! Thanks for posting! Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Yes. That picture is very sweet looking. Very old too. Looks like a fun ride. Quote
dare-to-fly Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Judging by the cars in front of it, it can't be much after Big Dipper opened. Just so you know...the fun part isn't even in the picture. The hill behind the sign is the last hill of many ejection seat airtime hills. Quote
The Interpreter Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Do you mean under that name? The coaster itself opened as Sky Rocket in 1925. Those are not twenties cars! The Big Dipper name debuted in 1969. Those are also not Sixties cars! It was the Clipper from the late 40's to 1968. Quote

You would know...I mean...oh geez, you left that wide open. At any rate, perhaps Terpy might point out what year the picture was taken. Quote
The Interpreter Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I don't know, but my guess is late 40's... Quote
dare-to-fly Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks, Terpy. I'm sure you know I was just funnin' ya! Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks. And yeah, those cars do look really old, but I would think from the early 40s. Edit: Beat me to it! Quote
The Interpreter Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 During WWII, no new cars were produced, so people kept old cars for a very long time. For that reason, I suspect the picture is from the late 40's. Quote
