merlin803
Last year we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge and really liked it but it was a bit expensive. So, I am coming to the experts to get some advice. Any less expensive suggestions for the family? Thanks!
violakat03
We stayed in the Super 8 Mason. It's at 71 and 741, really close to the park. We paid $50 including tax (AAA rate) for a non-smoking double room on Friday night. Killer deal if you ask me! It was a very nice hotel, actually. The room was clean and the whole place felt new. Avatar
Sorry to be late jumping in but after my recent stay at Kings Island Resort and Conference Center, I can now feel comfortable recommending them as a close alternative as long as you can get a decent rate. In past years the Resort has shown a lot of wear but this past weekend we received great service and a very nice comfortable room. The Resort offers a very large indoor pool and whirlpool, So if you have a family and need a place close with a pool I think at least take a look at their rates to see if they may be an alternative for you. For several years that was our "regular" vacation hotel and we did always enjoy it (that they run shuttles back and forth to KI all day is a great bonus!). What we are actually thinking about doing is spending 1 night at the Great Wolf Lodge (awesome inside water park!) and then one night at a low cost hotel ($80 or less hopefully). The last time I checked, I believe that the Kings Island Resort and Conference Center was $100+/night. I'll check though since it has been a while. Last time I looked at it (this was last fall), it wasn't that much. It was actually a little less than many hotels in the area. Though Avatar can probably tell you for certain what their rates were like.

Avatar
The rates vary wildly depending on the day and the season and usually after the June they are way to expensive for us to consider. Your idea of one night at GWL (Great Wolf Lodge) and one night at a discount motel is one I was discussing with someone else as a reasonable way to enjoy Kings Island and the GWL while trying to keep the cost down. keep in mind you can use the facilities at GWL until 10-11PM on the day you check out. So an example could be considered go to KI on Friday night stay at the discount motel then back to KI in the morning and into the late afternoon. Then check-in at GWL swim or enjoy the amenities that evening and untl late the next day. We have stayed on our check out date past 7PM and will do that sceneio again in the future. Of course you can do GWL on Friday and the discount on Saturday. Good luck
