trevor75
Hey just wondering if anyone has been to this park, I am making a trip to San Antonio this summer and wondered if I should try and make time to hit this park? If anyone has any thoughts on this let me know please. Edited April 30, 2009 by trevor75
Zorba
I went there in '95 - this is before Six Flags ran the park. I enjoyed the water park a lot and their fireworks show was the best I've ever seen at a park. The Rattler is mega boring, though. I know a lot has changed but the rides were pretty lacking when I was there. Be sure to hit Sea World while you are there, it is amazing, plus both their coasters are really fun. Their water park and log flume are also really good. I think their flume is probably one of the best I've ever been on. Also there is a Mexican restaurant in the middle of the river walk, next to a bridge that you have to eat at. They have outside seating with right colored umbrellas over their tables, can't miss it. I'll try to remember/find their name for you.

Zorba
The restaurant is Casa Rio very good food, we make sure to hit it every time we're there.
The Interpreter
Go! Go! Go! Especially if you like shows! Especially if you like beautiful parks! Especially if you like mine trains rides (the best Arrow one ever, in my opinion)! And you can ride what is essentially Flight of Fear without the building and without a midcourse brake! dare-to-fly
And you can ride what is essentially Flight of Fear without the building and without a midcourse brake! Huh?! Flyer, whose attention has been raised and whose trips are now being replanned.
The Interpreter
Same story with Joker's Jinx at Six Flags America. There is no midcourse brake to be on...
dare-to-fly
Same story with Joker's Jinx at Six Flags America. There is no midcourse brake to be on... I think that's the best way to build a coaster. I'll take the lower capacity. Maybe I'll rethink my plans to include one or both of those parks. The Interpreter
http://www.rcdb.com/ig544.htm?picture=4 See any brake?
dare-to-fly
No...I see where the mid-course would go, and without one! Yay, it's like Shivering Timbers. A mid-courseless mid-course. The best kind! Now I'm excited. That looks like one tangled mess of track...when can I go?
The Interpreter
I know you. Just don't ride Rattler. You will...and then we will hear you complain about how insurance companies and banks shouldn't run theme parks (when Rattler was butchered, and it was, it was owned by....an insurance company and a bank). KIfan1980
A couple of observations on this thread: - Always make the time to visit a local park in a city you are visiting if possible. Case in point, my recent visit to Branson/Silver Dollar City, which I'd have skipped if I'd listened to "most" of the trip reports I found on this and other sites, but went to and really enjoyed. You get to make the choice and will often find something you like at almost any amusement/theme park - Did anyone else read the words "without a midcourse brake" and just KNOW that Dare-to-Fly would be the next post - I second the Casa Rio reco
trevor75
well I started this thread, because it is going to be a short trip like maybe two days(won't go into details her why we are making the trip that is for another day) but it will be tough to squeeze in but if i got enough positive feedback then I was going to do my best to make sure we stop. Zorba
Personally, if I had to pick one or the other it would be Sea World hands down. But like I said, I haven't been to Fiesta Texas in quite a while, but Sea World is better every time I go.
The Interpreter
Steel Eel was certainly quite the dandy when it opened...then something that dare-to-fly likes to lambaste appeared...

I have a seminar in Chicago and plan on visiting Great America for the first time. Also my sister has a few performances in Ashville and I would love to see her then hit Carrowinds. It's gonna be a good summer!
Touchdown
SFFT is by far my favorite SF park. My additional suggestion is to check and see if they are doing the Texas Summer Spectacular the night you are there. If they are, go see it its the best night show Ive seen outside of a Disney Park. They project images onto the quarry wall and shoot off fireworks as you take a trip through Texas' history. Perfect way to end a day at the park.
