Stratosphere Tower

Featured Replies

I was looking to see how many people from good old Ohio have been up the Stratosphere and ridden at least one ride. My trip there was amazing. Insanity, X-Scream, and Big Shot, are all easily in my top 10 rides of all time. I'd have to say, that Insanity is the best, even though I rode in the front seat on X-Scream.

So, anyone else like those rides?

Not from good old Ohio, but I have been up that tower many times now...and on all but the first two visits have done every ride up there every time. I love heights, as those who know me well know very well....some of the things I've done up in the air will never be posted here or anywhere else on the net...like hanging out the side of a...oh, never mind. And if you are an expert on all things coaster, especially in Florida, and feel like blabbing, please don't. Besides, no one would believe it anyway! :)

Terpy, who must have been a bird in a previous life...no, not a turkey vulture! :)

Yep - been there and done that. Big Shot (awesome) and High Roller (boring) were the rides back then. I plan to return next year and try the new rides.

I went in the summer of 07, and in 04....I have rode 2 rides on top of the tower, High Roller which is a roller coaster that circles the tower but is now gone and Big Shot which is an amazing experience! Be sure to check out the spinning restaurant too! If your staying there for a few days check out The Adventure Dome, which has the best Arrow corkscrew out there. Also catch Speed: The Ride while you still can! Those are all walking distance from the Stratosphere....But what ever you do do NOT ride Manhattan Express, my ears are still bleeding.....

yeah when i was there i did go to the Adventuredome. The Canyon Blaster was an okay ride, 2 loops, 2 cokscrews, but i felt that it was too short and was missing tome essential elements. On the upside, A must-ride is the NY-NY Hotel rollercoaster. good hill, a loop, and another hoosy-whatsy(upsidedown thing). Why didnt you like it? I thought it was a great ride. Stratosphere still definitely had the best rides in town

And that, my friends, demonstrates why you must ride coasters and judge for yourself. I adore Canyon Blaster in the Adventure Dome at Circus Circus, and find it the second smoothest Arrow looper (right behind the Tennessee Tornado). As for The Roller Coaster at New York New York formerly known as Manhattan Express, ugh. What a horrid headbanger and rough abomination. Yet, guitarkevin4life has nearly the exact opposite opinion, and that's great! Go ride for yourself! We can't all adore The Georgia Cyclone and love coasters like Rolling Thunder! Somebody's got to do it! :) Even on these boards, there is wide disagreement about coasters like Son of Beast. Right, Nick Beaver? Or Millennium Force, which Giga adores and others among us find to be largely a snooze. Different rides for different folk! And how do you know what kind of folk you are if you don't go find out for yourself?

No wonder we traveled so well together :-) I absolutely loved Canyon Blaster and couldn't ride enough, hoping to go back out in the fall. Manhattan Express would be more useful as scrap metal. Georgia Cyclone = coaster bliss......Son of Beast can burn and yeah Millennium Force is a snoozefest :-) If only I could get you to come to your senses about Nitro!!! ;-) Oh, but you'll never find me hanging out the side of a h.........better stay quiet hehe

I guess I just kinda thought it was bland. Kind of like Corkscrew at CP. The loops are fun, but other than that, theres no hills, or helixes, and every time you went into the "canyon", it seemed as though you coould stick your arm out and break your wrist due to the fact that it's right outside the car. Anyway, what exactly is an Arrow looper?

Don't forget Speed Terpy! Thats an excellent ride!

Speed's a great ride, and well worth the nearly non-existent wait. And always ask about ride all day specials...they often cost less than two single rides! :)
