wruizjr
Hello, this is my first post on this forum In late June I'm planning a trip to CP/KI, this would be my 1st ever trip to KI and I have a few questions about two coasters in particular: Son of Beast and Vortex. I've been doing research on Son of Beast but I always see mixed views about this coaster, some people love it and some hate it, my question is: is there a seat that provides the smoothest ride on SoB? and if not is there a way to avoid all the jerks? My second question is about Vortex, I've always known Arrow loopers cause head banging and its because of that I've stayed away from them for about 10 years, the last Arrow looper I rode was Demon at SFGAm. But now my height is 5' 10/5' 11, so would I still get headbanging or would my head stick out of the OTSR?, and is there a good seat on Vortex? Thank You! Colonel_SoB_fan
Son of Beast is a great ride and worth the wait. Yes it can be rough but it a wooden coaster. It father is just as rough and it amazing people dont cry about it as much. From my experiences the farther in front you are the smoother it is, but my last SOB ride last sunday I was in the back on logo less red train and it was really smooth. Vortex I'm about your height and yes you will get head banged, but again I feel like it well worth it. Vortex is a classic coaster that you just cant get a better sinking feeling on, sorry I could not resist. Also welcome to KIC
Rollercoast19
Welcome to KIC! On Vortex, members on here have mentioned that 5-1 (car 5 row 1) is the smoothest because it was designed for that row.
Beast Man
On SOB sit in the front row and make sure to leave some space between the lap bar and the top of your thighs. Also it might help to not have your back against the seat.On Vortex in seems that there's less headbanging the farther back you go.First row of the last car is a great seat that doesn't have any headbanging(though some swear by first row of car five). Rollercoast19
I actually haven't tried the seat since I have heard it mentioned on here. Just relaying what other members have said.
skaterboy22101
I rode it with Derek(random numbers, can't remeber them sorry) and I was highly unimpressed with it. It is really bumpy and ou head bang alot. Also the only air time I got from it was on the first drop, and I still didn't get much.
BavarianBeatle
In my experience SoB is best when the weather is cool in the morning and evening.... In the Rose Bowl you are experiencing over 4 G's so you are going to feel every little shake and it will feel rough.... I enjoy the ride though! On Vortex, I prefer the back car, but 5:1 is smoother, especially in the corkscrews after the MCBR!! Also, when you go, make sure to take a trip up the Eiffel Tower, the view is amazing!!!
