skaterboy22101 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Ok. There are so many topics on this already and you made another one?! Wow. No one knows what happened yet(well someone knows, just not us).
coaster_junky Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 a lady burst a blood vessel in her head and reported it to the park, and just for safety reasons they shut down the ride until they can figure out what caused it to happen
IloveSOB Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Gee....I hope tey dont close it down for good. It might give headaches but tearing it down is losing 3 records.

IloveSOB Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Thank you!!! But is that what really happened. Just because someone gothurt doesnt mean they should close it. Well it depends.
coaster_junky Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 well, when a burst blood vessel in your head can cause death, i think it might be best to figure out what caused it.
06jds377 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Gee....I hope tey dont close it down for good. It might give headaches but tearing it down is losing 3 records. Three? Height, speed, and pain?

XGatorHead 8904 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 ^^The Ohio Department of Agriculture is responsible for inspecting rides. They are a government agency, hence the government is involved.

"The Ohio Department of Agriculture" I thought agriculture was for plants. I would not know this since im going into 8th grade next year.
Beast1979 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 How long did the inspection take in '06? Because this inspection sure is taking a while, it's been closed for 7 days now.....
06jds377 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I'm not even sure that SoB ran for the rest of the season after the 06 accident... I don't remember that well though..

But the way I understand it, the way the Dept. of Agriculture inherited ride inspections is this (and someone please correct me if I've been misinformed regarding the history of how the Dept. of Agriculture got ride inspection duties): There are a large number of state/county/regional fairs and festivals. Lots of these fairs and festivals are agriculturally based. So the Dept. of Agriculture has a large interest in these fairs and festivals. And what, besides cows, pigs, sheep, pumpkins, tomatoes, etc. are at fairs? Rides! So the Dept. of Agriculture was placed in charge of inspecting these rides. The inspection duties spread to cover amusement parks as well. See here for the Department of Agriculture's Amusement Ride Safety website: http://www.agri.ohio.gov/divs/rides/
TOPGUN1993 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I'm not even sure that SoB ran for the rest of the season after the 06 accident... I don't remember that well though.. The ride reopened July 4th 2007.
coaster_junky Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 ^but that was mainly because they retracked alot of the track and removed the loop, wasn't it?

The division has their own building at the Dept of Ag compound near my home in Reynoldsburg, OH. The old building actually had a sign on it that said "Ferris Wheel Inspection Division," but their duties have obviously grown since then.
