DaveStroem
Sorry for the delay in getting the rest of this PTR up. After getting up in Batavia NY, we grabbed a quick bite in the room before heading off to the Darien Lake for the day. Darien Lake was a former Six Flags park. It has an OK line up of coasters including an Intamin Hyper, Vekoma SLC, Vekoma Boomerang, a very rough woodie, Arrow looper and a new Zamperla MotoCoaster. The crowds weren't to bad and we got to ride everything we wanted at least twice. The Highlight of the day was the last train on Ride of Steel (former Superman). We have become nuts for the last train of the night. I don't know what it is but we just love em. The only negative thing I have to say about Darien Lake is that not all of their restaurants take credit cards. I don't like to carry a lot of cash and we wanted to get a pizza for dinner but none of the pizza joints took plastic. We ended up sharing 2 footlong Subways which at least didn't have CF pricing they were $8 each. They shut down Superman at 9:30 so that they could empty the station by 10:00 PM because they then have a laser show and apparently the lasers mess up the ride sensors so they shut down all of the coasters. We got there after the line had closed even though the station did not look that full. We decided to stick around and chat were the attendant and security that was stationed all over the ride to keep people from jumping back in from the exit line. He told us that sometimes if the station is empty the ride supervisor may call down and let another train worth in. We were having a good time talking to him anyways so if the call didn't come that would have been fine. About 10 minutes before 10:00 he excused himself and went over to the phone and called the ride supervisor. I could overhear him say that he had meet a really awesome family and would like to send them up the exit for the last train of the night. I guess it is true that if you treat people like human beings and not your servants you can get much farther with them. Any ways, he came back and hand wrote an exit pass for us to take up along with another family that had been waiting as well. They kept thanking me because they could overhear his conversation too. We got up to the station and had to wait for them to send out the train but they brought us in for the last train of the night. We got in the train and Mathew the attendant got in behind us for a great night ride. When we got back in the station the ride supervisor asked Mathew to get out and handed him his radio and took his seat for one more lap. We got off the ride thanking everyone and then hustled over for the laser show & fireworks. This was a great medium size park that has pretty cheap online tickets $25.99. A lot of people knock this park but we loved it. Next up is Canada's Wonderland.
dragsterfan420
I would love to get to this park and try out their coasters. It looks like a nice park. You're pictures are great and I'm glad you guys had a good time, especially the extra ride on Superman. Look forward to your next PTR. DaveStroem
I fear that most of the younger set here will completely miss the reference in my thread title.

DaveStroem
Dave, wondeful photos! The sunscreen station was different, Reminded me of a gas pump. I thought is was a good idea. $2 for 1 minute. I bet I could have gotten a lot of people sprayed in 1 minutes.
