kiruler102
Down the road there was a Carnival that i have attended each year, and i thought that they did a really good job on it!. But this year was a little different. The Parking lot was only half filled with stuff instead of Filled and they only had 3 BIG rides to ride. I bought a ride wrist band for 12 dollars. That couldve bought gas to go to KI!!! Well here are some pictures i took of the rides. [/img] This is the Rock-O-Planes [/img] The HeartFlip which is like the Twister ride at Krazy City but a 2 person seater in the shape of a HEART!!! [/img] The FUN slide!!!! YAY [/img] Berries and Apples Traditional Spinner [/img] I dont know the name of this but it is GIANT scupltures of Santa Claus and Clowns! [/img] Then me riding WayOut (swings) Thanks for reading my waste of 12 dollars! My ride count: Wayout-5 Rock o plane-1 Heart Flip 1 Waste of time= COMPLETLY!!! gigacoaster2k
GIGA HATES CARNIVALS!! Why, you ask? THEY ARE ALL SPINNING RIDES!! I'll have to post a PTR when I go to our county fair next month. Unless they have the Wipeout, my ride count will be 0 for that day. I'll be sure to post pictures of the food I eat, though!
The Interpreter
Looks like that carnival, like a certain park once in Ohio, shrunk its footprint in order to align costs more with revenues. As that park found out, or already knew, you can do that only to a certain point. After that, the customers begin to see the point, and go to see other fairs, parks and attractions, or just stay home. Customers get to decide where they will spend their precious nickels. As those nickels become more dear, cutting costs and raising prices can be a very self-defeating move for attraction operators, who may face little choice but to do so. Especially if they are facing large debt repayment requirements. Under such circumstances, operating a major amusement park industry company can be a lot less fun than a small county fair carnival. And finally, a little perspective...put into context of those who do not have season passes to a major theme park (and most do not): That $12 you decided was not a good value for the carnival is: * Only two dollars more than Cedar Fair typically charges just to park your car! (And is three dollars less than most Six Flags charge for parking!) * Is less than a typical meal of cheeseburger, fries and a Coke at a Cedar Fair park (or a slice of Papa John's Pizza, cheesebread and a Coke at Six Flags). * Is only $2.01 more than The Beast funnel cake sold at Kings Island! specialk141
i actually work for a carnival company... or at least did, till i graduated college (still help them move rides on sunday's)...... that is actually a roll-o-plane, not a rock o plane, and honestly, that company is not exactly the best in the city. their ride selection is very slim, and the ones they do have are mostly from the 70's. they also have a reputation of having shoddy rides and poor maintenance records. still love me a ride on their roll-o-plane though! sorry you did not enjoy it! KIBOB
I dont know if it is just me, but i dont really trust rides that have supports on wheels, or that fold up for storage.
Gabe
I dont know if it is just me, but i dont really trust rides that have supports on wheels, or that fold up for storage. I second that! I refuse to go on any rides at the Indiana State Fair which I just started reattending last year after a long absence for that very reason. I feel safe on rides at places like KI, since I know that they spend a lot of money on upkeep.
rotag
statistics and common sense tell you parks are better than fairs.

specialk141
actually portable rides are inspected on a weekly basis at every location by a state certified agent. in the 6 years i worked with my company, we never had an accident. sure there are some that cut corners, but i assure you, carnival rides are safe. look into it. when was the last fatality or major injury related to a carnival in cincinnati? when was the last fatality or major injury at a park in cincinnati? i do believe that you would be shocked to find the results.
