As soon as he walked into Conneaut Lake Park — even before the rides were running — John Caruthers sought out the Tumblebug. "I first rode the Tumblebug when I was about 2 years old in Memphis. Every year, I waited all winter for it to reopen. I'm 73 and am still a kid at heart," Caruthers, a retired elementary school music teacher, said with a southern twang still fresh after decades in Warwick, R.I.

Caruthers is not the only person happy that the 117-year-old amusement park in Crawford County opened in June — for the first time in three years. So are the park's trustees and local business owners, who say the park is the anchor of the region's tourist area....

Nice article, this is a very charming park, I do think $19.95 may be a little too high, at least without the Blue Streak running, to keep a sustained flow of traffic, that they need to survive, I think $15 would be about right, however when I was there the special was for $5, you can't beat that. The hotel is very charming, especially the veranda's overlooking the lake, I hope to get back up there again next year, especially if the Blue Streak is running

Moyers, chairman of the board that runs Conneaut Lake Park as a not-for-profit public trust, is candid when he points out that much work remains to be done. Some buildings are still shuttered, one needs to be torn down and others need to be painted. Three rides aren’t operating and some sites need some sprucing up. But there’s no denying the park’s come a long way since shutting down in 2007 and 2008 due to a lack of funds. ...
