The Interpreter
Everybody who's ridden the old wooden roller-coaster at the PNE knows it's a classic. And it's been around for 51 years, which makes it one of Vancouver's true landmarks. Now it's official. Roller-coastering's most prestigious body, the American Coasters Enthusiasts (ACE) will be conferring official "landmark" status on the PNE coaster today at Hastings Park. It was already rated a "classic" coaster, which means it's one of only five roller-coasters worldwide that have both honours. Twenty roller-coaster aficionados will be on hand for the ceremony, including ACE officials from New York, Ohio and Washington state.... http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/...1304/story.html Designed by Carl E. Phare...quite the coaster it is, and well deserving of this honor, in my humble opinion...
