July 30, 200917 yr My first trip to Dolly wood is comeing up nxt week which I cant go to Strickers grove sorry fo being unable to go next time I will. But back to the subject. What are some rides I showed ride at DollyWood casue I dont know anything about this park at all.
July 30, 200917 yr They have three roller coasters (Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, Mystery Mine) I LOVE Thunderhead (one of the best wooden roller coasters I've been on), Mystery Mine is great also, and Tennessee Tornado is really smooth for so many inversions. It's also near the smokey mountains, which is cool. It's extremely clean. They have some great water rides too. As you can tell, I LOVE Dollywood.
July 30, 200917 yr You have to try out their water ride, River Battle. It's new. We rode it last August and it was great. We ended up having to pay for the family drier, we were so wet. 8 people sit on one side and 8 on the other. As you go around the course, other rafts can shoot cannons at you, and you have your own cannon as well. Only downside, you have to crank it to get the water going far. Ride Blazing Fury. It's a small coaster, but it's indoors and pretty fun. Great theme in there too. Mountain Sidewinder is another water ride for you to try. It's the best water ride I've ever been on. Daredevil falls is a log ride that goes around 60mph down it's dip. Tennessee Tornado is a great coaster, as well as Thunderhead and Mystery Mine. Give Timber Tower a try Those are the 'major' rides the park has. Dizzy Disk is fun too. There's a lot flat rides there that are fun too. You'll enjoy it. Be sure to ride the trolley from parking to the gate. It's a loooooooong walk if you don't.
July 30, 200917 yr Author Were rideing the trolley from our Hotel which is next door and were rideing it to the entrence.
July 30, 200917 yr Were rideing the trolley from our Hotel which is next door and were rideing it to the entrence. If you are big on themes in a park, you are going to love it there. Lots of photogenic areas. Oh yeah, be sure to go to the Eagle sanctuary As for food, there's a great fajita place when you walk through the cave and across the railroad tracks. It's just a stand, but excellent food. Btw, ride the train there, and watch for the soot hehe Granny Ogle's is a good place in the park to eat, if you like Southern style food. While in Pigeon Forge, try to get in a show to Black Bear Jamboree or Dixie Stampede....and maybe breakfast at the Apple Barn (I've spent a lot of time in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) And don't waste your money going to Ober Gatlinburg, unless you just want to ride a tram up the mountain and do the skylift. Otherwise, the park is pretty dead up there. There is ice skating though.
July 30, 200917 yr Author Cool I cant wait we might be doing the new Skyzip woukld I be able to get my tickets there?
July 30, 200917 yr Cool I cant wait we might be doing the new Skyzip woukld I be able to get my tickets there? Yeah, you can. But be aware that it is $40 per person to do it. Kinda expensive. Dollywood does a deal that if you go after 3pm, you get in the next day free. On occasion, they do a $5 discount for bringing in a marked can of Coke. You'd have to buy a can in the area I guess. I'm not sure if they are running that deal right now. It's only at certain times, but I'd check just to make sure. You can also buy discounted Dollywood tickets at any Food City. Also stop at any Tourist Information booth in the area and look for discount coupon books to attractions in the area. They're free and they'll save you some $ for stuff on the strip and in Gatlinburg. And beware..BEWARE I say lol of the time share people. They are EVERYWHERE and they do not take no for an answer. Just keep walking, trust me on this. And visit Wonderworks in Pigeon Forge. It's fun and very hands on.
July 30, 200917 yr Author Were going to 5 days but were going to DollyWood one day and Splash Country the next day and the other 3 dasy might be another trip to DollyWood and Antoher trip to Splash country plus the last day is going to be for site seeing.
July 30, 200917 yr I was in Pigeon Forge over spring break. Didn't go to Dollywood, but I did go to WonderWorks, and it was pretty sweet. The Extreme 360 Bike was down. But they had a simulator that flips a lot. You should go there. Also, as far as go karts go, I like the Adventure Raceway. Zorbing sounded fun, but we went to the Zorbing site and it was just a giant dirt hill. I wasn't tall enough to do the dry zorbing. $40 for 15 seconds of Zorbing just doesn't really seem worth it...
July 31, 200917 yr As Pcc said, try to catch dinner at the Dixie Stampede along the main drag in Pigeon Forge. Check out their vacation packages on this page (which includes the Dixie Stampede on some): http://dollywood.reservedirect.com/dollywood_packages.asp
July 31, 200917 yr You must do Blazing Fury and several times. It is AMAZING! -Mr. Jones, Hold that net still cause I'm gonna jump -Now, now, Molly, you be careful now cause... I gotta weak back... -Weak back or not Luther here I come!
July 31, 200917 yr Tennesse Tornado, Mystery Mine, Blazing Fury, and Thunder.... I enjoyed them all. Tennessee Tornado is by far the smoothest Arrow I been on. The scenery and Smokey mountain view is beautiful! They also had some very good shows too.
July 31, 200917 yr I think this belongs in a different area of the forums. Not the King's Island section.
July 31, 200917 yr http://paulb.kiextreme.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=106 Theres some photos from my trip last summer. Mystery Mine and Daredevil Falls were my favorites......... well all the rides were top notch.
August 1, 200917 yr I've never been to Dollywood, so I can't make any recommendations, but I can say: Have fun while you're there!!! :)
