House
Did anyone ride Maverick Thursday or Friday? I rode both days and the launch seemed very slow in comparison to the last 2 years. I know it was broken down earlier in the week for a couple of days, so I'm wondering if they slowed it down because of this, or if the launch has been slower all season long. 74Gibson
I'm heading to CP on Thur. and I'll post here if I notice anything. I rode it early in the season and it seemed just as quick as last year.
Guest rcfreak339
When I rode it a month ago it wasn't slow...but I can't compare.
DaveStroem
I was on it yesterday. Yes, I would say it was a little tamer. Still a great ride. It was down last night for at least 1 1/2 hours till I gave up. I then walked to Magnum and it too was down so I got in the car & drove home. Dvo
I've been on it several times this summer and the launch seemed just as fast as it has in previous years. But I haven't ridden it in a few weeks.

But I haven't ridden it in a few weeks. It is possible that the ride is the same and that I have become desensitized to it. That plus riding a bit defensively to avoid getting thrown from side to side.
Dvo
^right. I've learned the course well enough now that I can lean my head into all the turns. It makes Maverick such a great ride when the bashing is eliminated
74Gibson
I rode it Thursday and aside from bding down for abt 25 mins (during ERT...grumble) it was just as fast up the lift. One thing I noticed is that it definitely slowed less before the second launch whoch got me thinking how great it would be to launch without any slowing. My friend taught me the key to Maverick... ride it like a motorcycle. Grab the restraints and lean into where every banking turn puts you and you'll have a perfectly smooth ride with absolutely no discomfort. TTD-120-420
Most of the time the only time you slow to almost a complete stop in the tunnel is if you are on the 2nd train. It has to wait for the first train to reach a certain block brake. After it reaches you are on your way. I always liked stopping better in the tunnel, so I always go 2nd train.
