Trip Report – Cedar Point September 7, 2009

Weather – Overcast most of the day.

Crowds – Light

I got to the park around 10:30 and to my amazement the main parking lot was relatively empty. When I got in I decided to go to one of my most favorite coasters in the park Wicked Twister.

Wicked Twister – Went on it twice and walked on both times.

This ride can be great or just good depending on where seated. The first time I rode it I sat in the far back and it was a great ride with lots of twisting on the back tower. The second time I rode it in the middle. It wasn’t nearly as good as the back. This is one of the few rides that I recommend sitting in either the front or the back and not the middle.

9/10

Magnum XL-200 – Went on it once and waited about 5 minutes for it.

This ride really surprises me that he wait is not longer for such a great ride. The airtime on it is incredible but it really can become not fun if stapled into the seats. There are brand new signs in the queue celebrating its 20th anniversary.

8/10

Gemini – Went on it once and walked on it.

This is a ride that I imagine fools a lot of people. It looks wooden but is really steel. The bad part on this ride that takes away points from this is the transition into the helix which is absolutely terrible. It is too abrupt and the roughest part of this ride.

7/10

Skyhawk – Went on it twice and waited about 5 minutes both times.

This ride is really fun. The only complaint I have and the reason I only gave it a nine is that it’s far too short in length. Just when the ride is really getting good it stops. Improve that and it’s gets a ten hands down.

9/10

Maverick – Went on it once and waited about 30 minutes for it.

This is a great Intamin that is hurt only by the trims that seem to be everywhere on the ride. When I was riding it I saw a water bottle fly up and back down on the first airtime hill. It stayed on until the second airtime where it flew off and went into the weeds.

9/10

Mean Streak – Went on it once and walked on to it.

Bad, rough, and boring ride. Don’t ride it. Enough said.

6/10

Food – Chick-Fil-A

Very good food especially for an amusement park. Nice setting next to Maverick.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Millennium Force – Went on it once and waited about 15 minutes for it.

I’ve found that this is just a very safe ride. Just a very consistent ride. It’s fun every single time. No trim brakes. Lots of speed. Just a great altogether ride.

10/10

Top Thrill Dragster – Went on it twice and waited ten minutes each.

This is another fun ride. The launch is like a punch in the stomach… In a good way! The view at the top is incredible. This was a wait that ended at the stairs so I ran around and rode it again.

9/10

Power Tower (Blue) – Went on it once and waited about ten minutes for it.

This is quite possibly the only ride that still makes me nervous. The only way to go on this ride IMO is the power drop which gives a very good view at the top.

8/10

Maxair – Went on it twice and waited about 20 minutes in between them.

Another great flat ride in CP’s stable. It really complements Skyhawk. This ride has just enough spinning so that between swings there is a different view every time but not too much spinning. Just a fun, great flat ride.

9/10

Blue Streak – Went on it once and walked on to it.

8/10

Raptor – Went on it once and waited 10 minutes for it.

This is another ride that is a very good indicator of a Cedar Point coaster. It was a record breaker when it opened, is a great, fun ride and has been well maintained so that it is still runs great.

9/10

Disaster Transport – Went on it once and waited 10 minutes for it.

Wow. I cannot believe this ride is still at the #1 amusement park in the country. The theming is stupid/not working and the ride itself is boring. Cedar Point is better than this ride.

5/10

Demon Drop – Went on it once and walked on to it.

I would hate to see this ride go. Where else would I find lots of change? I found 81 cents behind the seats. There was more but I didn’t have time to grab it. The ride itself was fun and it provides a great pop of airtime on the drop.

7/10

Intamin Breakdowns –

-Millennium Force

-Maverick

Geauga Lake Sighting – The Hurricane Hannah sign that currently hangs over a restaurant at CP used to be the water park sign at GL.
