October 24, 200916 yr I used to love that ride and I remember riding it back in the 70's. I've heard a rumour that it was re-located to Canada's Wonderland as the Pharaoh's Eye, which would make sense since it left KI in 1979 and Wonderland opened in 1981... but I'm not sure if that's true. Wherever it went it's probably defunct. Just curious, but does anybody know if it was moved to another park after it was removed from KI?
October 25, 200916 yr One must remember it was a far less transparent world back then. There was no Internet...and moving flat rides was not an item that got a lot of attention. Unless someone was personally involved back then, I doubt you will ever know if that was the same roundup at Wonderland, or what happened to the one at Kings Island. I rather doubt that it is, given the relative low cost of new roundups back then and given Canada's strict safety inspections and requirements relative to America's at the time...
October 25, 200916 yr No one, besides a few top KI officials know this answer, and if you ask, I doubt you'll get an answer. In a dark, dark park, On a dark, dark access road, In a dark, dark building, On a dark, dark floor, In a dark, dark room, In a dark, dark cubicle, In a dark, dark crate, lays a..., GHOSTER COASTER, that knows all about the life and defuctedness of Halley's Comet.... October 25, 200916 yr Author Thanks I was just curious since now I live in Toronto (near wonderland) and I've never been able to find a picture of their round-up after looking for one for years. But thanks anyway, you're probably right that it was a new round-up.
October 25, 200916 yr ...as opposed to Wheel of Fortune, which was sold to what was then Bland's (now DelGrosso's) in Pennsylvania, which is widely known... Which is still there, and called Casino. And it's one of the best trabant rides i've been on
October 25, 200916 yr It looks wonderful. An even more wooded setting than Coney Island's. And on Coney's you can grab leaves off trees!
October 25, 200916 yr Author ^ I think the setting looks really good where it is now, adds to the ride. Does anybody know of any pictures of Pharaoh's Eye at Wonderland?
October 26, 200916 yr Other ride relocations... Zodiac to Wonderland Sydney Bayern Curve to Wonderland Sydney Flying Dutchman to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Antique Cars vehicles to Worlds of Fun (I may have park wrong... another Cedar Fair park, at least) King Cobra trains to Kings Dominion Flying Eagles to Carowinds Screamin' Demon to Camden Park A few others I'm probably forgetting as well.
