Sergeant Pepper Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I was looking at the Diamondback animations and wondered if they had a whole animated park and if there was any way to see it? Quote
The Interpreter Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Animations of new coasters are a relatively recent development. Until recently, the cost of such was very prohibitive. I remember how thrilled many of us were to see one of the very first very well done ones, for Raptor at Cedar Point before it was built. Quote
Beast1979 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 The animation for Diamondback was done by Kieth McVeen of Virtual Image Production (VIP) The animations are made for the sole purpose of new attraction advertisement. There are none with the entire park. If there were, lord knows we would have found it by now! Quote
The Interpreter Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 And the purpose of those animations, as you have said, is to let viewers see what the coaster will be like before it is built and operating. Quote
Beast1979 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 In case anyone is wondering, here is the video for Raptor's advertisement that Terpy spoke of: name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"> It was made in 1993, and extremely basic compared to the high definition beauty we saw 2 Augusts ago. But it got the point across. Quote
The Interpreter Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 More than 15 years ago I found that in my mailbox? Sigh, I AM getting old! Quote
Beast1979 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 17 Next year, Terpy. There's also this one from 1988, advertising Magnum XL-200 for next year. It has the occasional glimpse of animation. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"> Quote
74Gibson Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks for posting those BEAST, I didn't even know they existed. And now, I leave for school work. Trying to convince myself I'm interested in the final of 4 major projects for one class...which wasn't challenging material and didn't even accomplish the goal expressed in the title of the course. Sigh... Quote
Beast1979 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 That youtube member has a boatload of old videos from parks all over. I suggest you check them out. Quote
coaster_junky Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 from raptors video "this ride will virtually, forever more dominate Cedar Point's skyline." if only he knew then the parks future. Quote
Dvo Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I remember that video from the year it came out. Having never seen an inverted coaster before, I was obviously extremely excited about it. We went to the Point that year and waited about 3.5 hours for a ride on it, but it was well worth it. Still one of the best. Quote
