August 15, 200323 yr How much money do ppl think pki has and is willing to spend on new attractions every year, just woundered Edited January 1, 197056 yr by nightrider19
August 15, 200323 yr I have no idea... anyone happen to find old news paper articles about the cost of the SoB? I'm sure that (some) new rides can costs in the millions, but you have to understand that could just be building costs. There is a lot that goes into making a new attraction, from designing to building and testing, marketing and the operating costs of the attraction. I'm sure they have a budget, but I doubt that it is fixed for every year.
August 15, 200323 yr I think viacom puts about 50 million into all 5 parks a year so i would say around 8-10 million per year at pki. The 5 parks make about 500 million a year. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by captain picard
August 15, 200323 yr I know that is not true because they spent 40 mil on Scooby and Deilerim last year. Posted by adam12 on 08-14-2003
August 15, 200323 yr They spent like 10 million last year. Delerim was in the 2-4 million range. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by captain picard
August 15, 200323 yr Viacom has money and they don't like to spend it. Imo that is why they put in sob because a steel coaster of that size would have cost 25 million. When they do get a steel coaster it will not be a large one it will be in the 14-17 million range.

August 15, 200323 yr 25 million is the most that will most likely be spent on one ride in one season due to it being how much the park will make back in one season.
August 15, 200323 yr I believe that Action Zone was a $100 million investment over two years. (99 F/O, DZ, new theming; 2000 SOB)
August 15, 200323 yr PKI spent about 40 mill in 99 and 00 in Action Zone (face off, drop zone, SOB and the retheame.). I would probably guess PKI has a yearly budget of around 25 mill. This would include new rides, park upkeep and maintenance. Remember a lot goes on that you don't realize, like this past year the park did a complete renovation of the fountain. So when PKI doesn't spend a lot on a new attraction may not mean they have a small budget for that year.
August 15, 200323 yr Well, according to these two articles SOB and 1999, it was about 55 million. But that doesn't include price over-runs on SOB and all of its other problems. But yeah, I was a little high in my estimate.
August 15, 200323 yr The 99 and 00 expansions had a budget of 40 million. SOB's final cost has never been released to my knowledge. Has for a yearly budget, I'm sure it fluctuates year to year but I think it's safe to say nobody on this site knows what it may be. It's safe to say though; the more people that come through the gates, the bigger the budget in the coming years.

When they do get a steel coaster it will not be a large one it will be in the 14-17 million range. A steel coaster of Son of Beast's size would not have cost $25 million. Well, at least it shouldn't. I'd say that the cost would range from $12 to $17 million. As a steel coaster, Son of Beast wouldn't have anything really new or innovative to merit a $25 million price tag.
August 16, 200323 yr Jeff Siebert “In Southern California and central Florida you don't get noticed if you don't spend $50 million or $60 million on a ride,†he says. August 16, 200323 yr The article said 35 for all not 35+20. That's the article that's pre SOB. It doesn't mention "Project 2000." Breakdown: 1999-Park officials unveiled plans for next season's $35 million investment, which includes a pair of breath-taking rides expected to cost around $10 million each. The remaining money will be spent on other less-spectacular improvements. 2000-at an estimated cost of near $20 million. (Park officials wouldn't confirm the cost). That reads like 35+20 to me.
August 16, 200323 yr It reads like this to me Face/off=10 million,dropzone=10 million, SOB= 15 total is 35 million. I don't know what it cost I am just going by what others have said. I have heard anything from 15-20 million. It could have been up to 40 million for the two years. They said it was the most they ever spent so that would put there budget cap at 20 million a year. But they don't get a large ride every year its like every 2-3 years. This would make their average budget around 10 million from what it looks like to me.
