That article doesn't say anything about central Indiana. But this one does:

So here we can talk about what could have been, and what could be done with the land.

BTW: In the second link, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out the coaster at the left side. ;)

And here's a topic from 2007 about this and the Old Indiana park: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9986&st=0&p=164004&hl=garfield%20amusement%20park&fromsearch=1entry164004

In my opinion, this park would have had been popular. If you look at Holiday World, it's not near any major roads as far as I know, and they are adding two multi-million dollar rides in a row.

What? They did build Garfield Park in Indy clear back in 1873, and it has lots of fountains.

I have many memories in that park as I have watched many performances there and even played in one as a little one. My daughter has even participated in activities there. It is a nice park with many affordable activities.

Check it out http://www.garfieldg...nservatory.org/

If my above post sounds familiar then you would be right as it was briefly discussed in another thread started back in January of this year when Kings Island started to look for 2009 season workers in this link

We here in central Indiana would love a amusement park like Garfield. I hope more post here if they have any information of interest

The amusement park business in the US is a mature one. Few new parks make it. Look at Hard Rock. Or the revamped Cypress Gardens, which was, in reality, an attempt at a new park at the old gardens. Or Wild Escape in West Virginia, which has supposedly been just months from opening for how long now? So much cheaper to buy parks than build from scratch, especially now.

The last successful new park I can remember is Islands of Adventure...and even it is an addition to the Universal complex in Florida.
