markhudson17
In one of my college courses this quarter, I am going to write a paper on the "Effects of the Recession on the Amusement Park Industry". Does anyone know of any good sites and sources I can use?
CoastersRZ
Well, that is a very limited topic for a paper. Not sure of any definitive sources to tell you to look into. I mean, you can use a site like Coasterbuzz to point you toward online articles that may detail the affects of the economy on the entertainment and leisure sector. Another source you could possibly use is trade magazines like Amusement Today, since they follow the industry. Check out the Amusement Today website here. Note however, that to view articles from that website may require you to subscribe to the magazine, as it is a trade magazine, especially if you are interested in back issues. Erosarrow05
why would you limit yourself to such a narrow topic? If I could suggest another possibility, as I know lots of the 'fan boys' like to incorporate amusement parks into their academic writing - your prompt could be 'the recession and the travel and tourism industry"... that way you can talk about amusement parks for a while, but also mention the airline, hotel and cruise industries that have been dramatically affected by the downturn in the economy, and you could cite much more legitimate sources, as well as perhaps even interviewing a travel agent... not that Amusement Today isn't a credible reference, but you'll be hard pressed to find multiple sources... just an opinion :-)

I'll probably end up doing that.
shark6495
well talk to your library help because they may be able to point you in some direction also. Many subscription services have some deals worked out with academic institutions...
Cory Butcher
I can tell you this...although you may not find all the research pieces you need to compile this paper, I urge you to contact some smaller parks around America and interview people in the industry. Some of the best research sources are the ones you must compile yourself. If you have some interview quotes thrown in your paper that will differentiate from the rest of the papers!
