CincyMan98
^ He's saying that the speed of the ride doesn't make a difference, it's the amount of negative gs, which is all that Diamondback is. It's negative gs from start to finish. And for a ride that has all that airtime, that is that open, and has no seatbelt... more than one click is understandable. Yes, exactly! bkroz
Off-topic yet kinda-sorta-maybe-on-topic with coasters... Considering two Cedar Fair rides (Prowler and D-Back) were #1 and #2 on the Best New Ride list of '09, does anyone think both Timmys will get #1 and #2 for 2010? Or will The Forbidden Journey of Harry Potter take the top spot and the Timmys get #2 and #3? I know people will get on me because a 300-foot tall coaster (that may, in theory, be better than Millennium Force, but don't tell giga that) would be beat out by a dark ride starring a young wizard. Yet from what I have heard about FJ, I think it may just deserve the top spot just for what it does/can do. K, off-topic rant over. Probably Forbidden Journey will deserve the top spot. But I can see one of the Intimidators getting it. For better or worse, seasonal parks and annual parks are not treated the same in the much-over-hyped Golden Ticket Awards. One might say they should have two separate categories so big corporate rides like Harry Potter don't blow smaller, seasonal rides like Prowler out of the water. However, that's not even the case... The seasonal parks win! Most people here agree that the Golden Tickets are more of a tradition than a real award system. Consider Cedar Point - "the best amusement park or theme park on Earth eleven years in a row." Do they cream the competition in roller coasters? Probably. But other thrills? Family rides? Atmosphere? Shows? Customer service? Dining? Shopping? You'd be hard pressed to covince me that any Disney park, any Universal park, even most Busch & Merlin parks, don't completely overshadow Cedar Point in most every category other than roller coasters. What I'm saying is, Forbidden Journey will probably deserve the best new ride. It probably won't win it.
RingMaster
I see Caro-Timmy taking number three, and it will be very close between 305 and FJ. From a thrill ride aspect, you can't beat 305 with the speed and intensity and it being the love child of both Millie and Ricky. But from the overall experience of the ride, from the queue to the ride itself, Forbidden Journey is set to trump its "father" that is Spider-Man. It will be a VERY close call. sheikra_rocks
Prowler is more violent than Diamondback. Not that it is rough, but there are times when you experience laterals as well as negatives at the same time. Yes it has a seat belt, but still I was shocked when they didn't force me to make it go more than one click on the lapbar.
Guest Millennium
KI is not Worlds of Fun...things are different. We have limits on coasters like they do. We aren't going to let a 300 pound man ride on a coaster. Being too large should serve as a wake up call and the rest of us shouldn't sit in XL seats. coaster_junky
^would you please take a chill pill? all he did was point out that on Diamondback he has to have three clicks of the restraint and on prowler he only needed one.
vortexfan
Prowler and Diamondback are two completely different rides with different manufacturers and restraint/seat designs. You can't really fairly compare them. Now, if say Intimidator or Apollo's Chariot only required one click, THEN I would be complaining...
