Warm!

With this Cincinnati weather, this weekend felt like coaster riding weather, even though its almost the middle of November. Today was in the mid 60`s and felt like spring. Its days like today that I wish the park would still be open to ride the rides. Today was in the mid 60`s and felt like spring. Too bad it wasn`t because then PKI would be gearing up for operation instead of preparing for winter maintenance. Don`t count on the warm weather to last, because as Cincinnati weather typically changes, tomorrow`s high is supposed to be 43 with snow by 5pm. Crazy, almost 70 one day and then 40`s and snow the next. Welcome to the crazy world of Cincinnati weather!

laugh.gif The weather here in Indianapolis is just as crazy as Cincy's... last night it was I believe 70 degrees when I was coming home after getting some gas, and right now I'm looking out the window at this blizzard and it's about 25 degrees. Oh how much I hate freaking midwest weather. rolleyes.gif

this whole dang town, is a big orange barrel reproduction center. There is one year yet when there haven't been orange barrels on one section of Cincy highway or another. The killer is gonna be when they spend two or three years to replace the bridge. That is really gonna suck.

And at least the 275 construction is pretty much done. Now they just need to replace the Brent Spence Bridge - darn.

That'll be interesting to see how they do that, since the bridge has to remain functional while the other one is being built. It be cool if there was a nice cable stayed bridge going across the river though, those things are so nice. But the thought of all the highway realignments an interchange reconfiguations that will be done with the constuction of Brent Spence 2 is awe striking. It'll be so neat to see, but then I am a civil engineering major. But, just wait, because I am sure once that bridge is rebuilt some other major highway project will come up. The I-75 reconstuction/ light rail system comes to mind. Won't that project be fun?

Well that was completely off topic... so now to the topic.

Yeah it has been kinda warm this month, but look-- the weather's changed and now it's unbelievably cold. It's this finicky weather that probably keeps PKI makes it a good idea for the park not to stay open this month.

Its so strange someone mentioned that on here.

Me and the wife were out yesteday(here in Pittsburgh) and she said to me

"this weekend would of been a great weekend to go to Kings Island...If only they were open" Yeah the weathers been really strange lately. It was 71 degrees here yesterday. But rest asured today it dropped all day,and by 3 in the afternoon we had snow flurries. We were there the last weekend and couldn't believe how nice it was.We even rode Congo Falls. If they were open all year long they wouldn't have any time to fix things and put in new rides. Can't wait till spring!!

That is indeed why they are closed in the offseason, to fix things. However, I have heard rumblings that some portions of the park and some rides may be open for the return of a Winter celebration that used to be known as Winterfest. I hope Winterfest does indeed come back, but only time will tell if it will. It would sure make the offseason go by faster if you could grab a ride on TR:TR, the Carousel, Dodgems, and Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle in the end of December!

They don't necessarily have to keep brent spence open during the construction... all traffic could be diverted to 471 or something. It wouldn't be pretty, but it would work.

Thats not gonna happen. You can't shutdown I-75 for 1.5 years to replace the bridge. They will have to build the new bridge next to the current one, change all the ramps over, and then tear down the old bridge. Its just the way it is done. that bridge takes over 155,000 vehicles a day. We have no other bridges in Cincy that can take that much volume. THey would have to make all non-local traffic take the 275 loop around the City if they did close down the Brent Spence.
