July 10, 201016 yr Women leading businesses struggle with a number of issues, including the culture, change, setting unreasonably high standards and men. That’s according to 78-year-old Pat Koch, director of values at Holiday World in Santa Claus. The park is now led by Dan Koch, Pat’s son. “We’re not supposed to not look too good, to cry, giggle or even get paid as much [as men],” she said. “We’re getting better all the time. I’ve had to fight my way through. I had to prove I was as capable [as a man].”... Pat Koch said running a business is all about risks. She said it’s risky to spend millions on a new amusement ride, paying for unlimited soft drinks and sunscreen for visitors like Holiday World amusement park does — all in hopes of increasing attendance. She said risk taking is needed every year, but it’s well worth it in the end....
