KICoasterGirl
Day Seven July 8th: Lake Compounce We left our hotel around seven and headed to my grandma's grade school friend's house where we had breakfast. We left there about 9:30 and went to Lake Compounce! Lake Compounce's entrance reminds me of Kennywoods! Zoomerang! This has one of the prettiest paint jobs on a boomerang I've seen, it's also a fairly smooth coaster. The trains are painted metallic, so they're very shiny. Ghost Hunt is a great dark ride that is very similar to Boo Blasters! Ghost Hunt has a cute little gargoyle at the exit! The entrance of Ghost Hunt. I wish KI still had a Rotor! If you don't know what a Rotor is, it's a ride that spins really fast, then the floor drops about two feet and you are held up by centrifugal force. Boulder Dash! A nice sign displays the data and stats of the ride at the entrance. This was my mom's 100th different coaster! I thought this was going to be my 250th but I forgot to add in two of my previous coasters. Boulder Dash is a good wooden coaster. It has a unique lift hill that takes you up the side of a mountain. We rode Wildcat in the back and it hurt a ton! The ACE Coaster Landmark sign. Their Carousel. Katy, Daddy and I riding the carousel. The five of us. There was a goat on this carousel! KICoasterGirl
Daddy, Katy, and I rode the Wipeout while Adam was getting food. While Adam had a hamburger the rest of us shared two pizzas and a Philly cheese steak. This is was the where Adam got his hamburger from, love this sign! My mom was the only one of the five of us who was short enough to be considered a child, so she had to ride the Kiddie Coaster four times! My mom and dad on a zen ride on the Kiddie Coaster. They have a classic Trolley ride that takes you from the middle section of Boulder Dash to the Skyride. I love classic advertising like this. The Trolley's sign. My Daddy and I on the Trolley! Their Eagles are not very good. We think it's because the front rudder is much smaller than most. The Sky Ride Lake Compounce has an EPIC sky ride, it goes up the mountain. It looks like it goes up and then comes back down but it actually levels for a moment then goes up again, think of a double up and a double down. If you look closely you can see Adam, Katy and I coming back down the mountain. The view from up here is really incredible. My mom. Their Rapids Ride. Ride Info Boulder Dash is a great wooden coaster that gets much better in the afternoon. Wildcat hurts. The Sky Ride is a must, the ride lasts 25-30 minutes and but it has a great view. Lots of people lose their flippie floppies on this ride so if you are planning on wearing slip on shoes be careful! Ghost Hunt is a great dark ride! Good Eats This park has free Pepsi products that are located at a few oasis' around the park. The Philly Cheese Steaks and pizza over by the Ferris Wheel and Sky Coaster are good. Rides We Rode Boulder Dash Wildcat Zoomerang Kiddie Coaster Rotor Ghost Hunt Carousel Wipeout American Flyers (Eagles) Trolley Sky Ride We bought some T-Shirts and keychains and I got a miniature carousel horse statue and then we headed to NYC! Pillsberry123
Great looking skyride! When we do our East Coast vacation next year I think this is going to be a stop, even if it's just to ride the coasters and the skyride. Great photos again! LongliveKingsCobra
That Skyride scares me for somereason...I don't really know why. I mean I have ridden the sky ride in Gatlinburg but still...that one just looks..scary.
The Interpreter
One of the many reasons you can't snap the Eagles there, if I remember correctly, is the sails are made of WOOD. And they are very heavy. And in days of old, the ride operator would scream: "DO NOT BOUNCE YOUR BIRD!" I honestly didn't know what he meant...at first. PhantomTheater
While Adam had a hamburger the rest of us shared two pizzas and a Philly cheese steak. This park has free Coke products that are located at a few oasis' around the park. Lake Compounce is a Pepsi park, not a Coke park. The skyride was nice and relaxing, plus the view of ESPN was cool. The park was owned by Kennywood before the Parques Reunidos aquisition of Kennywood Entertainment, thus the similar entrances, Potato Patch fries, and the Kennywood arrow (without the word Kennywood) on the bumper cars. GR there is excellent, allowing my family to ride the kiddie coaster after pointing out there was no sign mentioning a height limit. Is there a sign now? KICoasterGirl
Great looking skyride! When we do our East Coast vacation next year I think this is going to be a stop, even if it's just to ride the coasters and the skyride. Great photos again! Make sure to ride Ghost Hunt! Thanks! I've always have been wanting to go to Lake Compounce to ride Boulder Dash! Nice trip report as always Thanks! That Skyride scares me for somereason...I don't really know why. I mean I have ridden the sky ride in Gatlinburg but still...that one just looks..scary. It might be because it goes up the side of a mountain, Is Gatlinburg's a chairlift? One of the many reasons you can't snap the Eagles there, if I remember correctly, is the sails are made of WOOD. And they are very heavy. Thanks for the info! Lake Compounce is a Pepsi park, not a Coke park. Oops! I'll fix that! Is there a sign now? I think so but I'm not totally sure.
