Delirium_Guy
This has been well under construction since March and is making steady progress. The Grand Reef is being constructed on the west end of the property, just past the last of the dolphin interaction pools. I've seen a lot of concept art for it, it really is going to be quite amazing when its finished and elevate the DC experience to an even higher level than what it already is. The SeaVenture experience will be an additional charge much like the Advanced Dolphin Swim that was introduced this summer. The price will be $59.95. Details such as age limit are still being determined. They will announce at a later date when reservations can be made. Also, Stewart Clark announced that once The Grand Reef has opened, the existing reef will shut down. The current reef will be converted to a freshwater attraciton for 2012. There are some neat concepts being considered for this that will be revealed at a later date, but the experience will be something that will be distinctively different from the new Grand Reef. 2011 is definitely a great year for the SEA Parks in Florida with Cheetah Hunt, Grand Reef and the continued growth of SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration! - Todd
BoddaH1994
Absolutely amazing. This is the type of expansion I would expect from DC. Plus a very classy video to announce it. We'll have to do the walking tour next time I come down. Now I'm excited.

However, if you come down in January, not too sure how much you are going to be able to see. The best idea is to just VISIT DC as a guest on one of your visits, I believe you know someone that can take care of you :-) - Todd
Avatar
This is exciting news!!!!! As someone who has visited Discovery Cove in the past few weeks as a guest I wonder how it will be possible to fit more activities in the same day. We arrived at opening and picked out a great lounge area to sit but the only time we sat down was at the free lunch area and only returned to our lounge chairs to pick up our belongings to leave. Discovery Cove was the highlight of our recent trip and we cannot wait to return especially now with even more to see and do. Ryan I absolutely agree with Todd on this one about the walking tour. Even though the grounds is well landscaped in tropical lush. The real beauty of Discovery Cove and were most of the action is, is below the surface. I will be telling everyone I know who plans to make a trip to Orlando to not miss the opportunity to experience Discovery Cove for themselves. There is a bit of an expense for it, but So Worth Every Penny and in fact I would recommend Discovery Cove as a excellent splurge choice. We have been home for less than a week and when anyone asks how was our trip, I rave about our Discovery Cove experience. Ryan if the person is the same person who we meet down there a few times (and I am sure it is) as to who Todd is referring to, then I am sure he can take care of you too. He gave us several tips and helped save us tons of $$ which we then bought more Discovery Cove souvenirs with. We are extremely grateful for his tips and money saving opportunities, but enjoyed his company even more during some of our park times. The whole family loves him!!! Delirium_Guy
Grand Reef is shaping up VERY nicely with its debut just under 2 months away now. While this addition is exciting, the refurbishment of the old reef for 2012 will be just as good....a lot of little surprises and unique experiences planned there! Also, Florida Leisure took a construction tour a few days ago and have posted a video that features more extended views of the reef and detailed explanations of how guests are going to be experiencing it. - Todd
