BRANSON, Mo. | Lightning hit a guard shack at the Silver Dollar City theme park in southwest Missouri, sparking a fire that could be seen for miles.

Park officials said no one was injured and damage was contained to the shack after the fire early Thursday....

The structure which burned shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday is a guard shack where ride monitors [for American Plunge] sit. It's forty feet high, and the flames were visible from nearby Highway 76.

A Silver Dollar City spokeswoman says the fire has no impact on the park's Old Time Christmas events....
