Rutgerskev
I just moved to Cincinnati and one of the first things my wife and I did was buy 2 gold passes to Kings Island. We love coasters and have already been to the park 3 times this season. I just have a few questions: 1. What is the deal with the "special" Gold parking area? I have never been there at opening but there doesn't seem to be anything special about this area at all and no one is checking whether or not people are gold pass members when they park there. 2. Are the regular rides/coasters open during Halloween Haunt? 3. Is early admittance to boomerang bay a must if we plan on getting a chair by the pool/lazy river? Thanks for your help! KI FANATIC 37
1. The gold pass area is closer to the entrance to the park. And all the times I have been in the gold pass area they have checked to see my pass. 2. Tea, most main rides see open during HH. Diamondback, beast, FoF, firehwk, racer, Drop Tower, Vortex, etc. 3. I can not answer this question. I do not go to BB a lot.
Avatar
Welcome to KICentral Rutgerkev - I believe you and the wife will find Kings Island to be a excellent entertainment value and worthy of many more visits to the park than you have already made so early in the season so far. To answer your questions; 1. During slow times of the season or day at times the area may not have a employee checking for Gold Passes but that usually is more rare as the season progresses. I have parked three times in the Kings Island Gold Pass lot so far this year and each time someone checked our Gold Pass. As far as special that will be more evident when the park is busy and you can find a spot in the Gold Pass lot or choose to spend the difference in price for the VIP parking. 2. A list of rides open during haunt are usually announced as the Haunt Season approaches. But most major attractions have been open in the past. 3. No you can get a seat in the area anytime of day but if you wait till Mid afternoon on the weekend you may need to search and wait a bit to find one. I tend to get there early though to ensure a choice seat and to be able to ride the major slide attractions before it gets busy in the mid afternoon times. So while others go to Boomerang Bay to cool off in the late afternoon I am in the park riding or cooling off while watching the great shows Kings Island has had over the last few years
Rutgerskev
We are more of a night time crowd. Our normal routine would arrive around 6 and stay till closing. Arriving that late people haven't been looking at our passes when we park so I wasn't sure.
74Gibson
I love KI at night. If for nothing else, The Beast in the dark is amazing and so is DB. WindSeeker will be gorgeuos and the oldtime feel of Coney Mall is just... IDK, it's romatic, fun, nestalgicetc... Welcome, KIC is an amazing site and I'm comparing it to many other industry fan site. The boards are a little too negative right now but we have some great people here who are incredibly knowledgable and helpful. I'm glad we could help you get your questions answered. Avatar
New for me this year as far as night rides go, Vortex has great views and coming out of the double loop looking straight up at WindSeeker is really a sight to be experienced. Thanks for the kind words 74Gibson and as far as the negativity on the boards lately, well just know that is priority #1 for us right now
SOB_TOM
As for the loungers in the waterpark, I would highly recommend getting there early. From what I heave heard (the reason I say heard is because I'm not normally one for waterparks, but go every once in awhile,) the loungers were all taken quickly last season, but BB was crowded because of the heat. KI FANATIC 37
You know, as much as I love KI, I have only been their at night about 2 times. I hope that I can visit the park more at night this season. It really is a beautiful sight!

Coney Mall does give the feeling of nostalgia at night. It almost reminds you of the old Coney Island in New York and of course Cincinnati and parks like that! The rides all have nice light packages that look so cool all lit up!
Flat Freak
Welcome to KIC and the Cincinnati area! I hope you enjoy your time here, from someone that is relatively new to the forum too (but not Dayton/Cincinnati or KI itself). It makes sense that they don't strictly enforce entrance into the Gold Pass lot that late in the day, as I can't imagine too many people enter that late. We have attended thrice this year, and had our Gold Pass checked each time upon entering the special lot. All three times were early in the day. We aren't big on Boomerang Bay, so I can't answer that question. Enjoy the park!
