Dalefan
My first roller coaster experience happened on a trip to Cedar Point with my cousin and his friend from our church. This was my 1st ever trip to the park. I never was really big on riding coasters because i was scared of heights. My cousin and his friend dragged me on Gemini. I rode it and was scared to death. Lol. So i stayed away from riding coasters till i went to LeSourdsville Lake Amusement Park in 2002 during the only ACE event the park ever had. I rode the now demolished The Screechin' Eagle. I only rode it 2 times because i still wasn't sure if i could go anymore. I went to Kings Island in 2002 and for the first time, i rode The Beast. This was the first coaster i rode at Kings Island. After the first drop, i loved it. Lol. I then rode the coaster 4 or 5 times more during that day. I rode a few coasters after that. But nothing too extreme. My cousin asked me if i wanted to go to Cedar Point with him either in 2002 or 2003. I said yes. I started to ride some of the small coasters like Blue Streak, Gemini, Woodstock Express and so on. I rode Magnum XL200 after i got use to the speed and heights. I loved it sorta. Lol. The first time i rode Millie Force, it was cold and raining. And this was during Halloweekends of 2003 The park at the time still ran coasters in the rain. I had won a bet with my cousin that i would not ride it. We make bets when we leave splits in bowling. If that person picks up the split, that person would win someting like a shirt or cd. Never money. I still rode Force anyways. Lol. I loved the coaster. But i had yet to ride my most favorite coaster at Cedar Point called Wicked Twister. I wasn't sure what to think of it because i had not seen a coaster like it. I rode it and i loved it very much. At that time, i had rode every coaster at Cedar Point but 2. One was Jr. Gemini. I had to have a kid with me. I finally rode it the day i took my girl friend and her son and her son's cousin in 2008. I proposed to her that day on the boardwalk. The other coaster was Top Thrill Dragster. At the time i rode it, it was the 2nd tallest and fastest coaster. Kingda Ka had just opened that same year. When i rode it, i thought wow. Lol. But i didn't really say that. Lol. My cousin said that when he rode it for the first time, he saw god on it 3 times. After this, i had gone to Holiday world for the first time for an ACE event the weekend that lady fell off of one of the coasters and passed away. I then went to Geauga Lake for the first time. To date, i had rode all of the coasters but 3 at every themepark i had been to. One was at Geauga Lake. One at Kennywood. And one at Kings Island. My uncle said that he and my cousin had turned me into a rollercoaster freak or monster. Lol. I still love rollercoasters and themeparks. I am a member of ACE and a Cedar Fair pass holder. I have been for along time now. I would like to go to other themeparks. But that will depend on time and money. Scott
RailRider
It is always interesting to hear how people got stated loving coasters and/or amusement parks. The ride that got me started loving coasters was the Wabash Cannonball at Opryland USA. This was the first big coaster I was tall enough to go on and after watching my dad ride it for years I very badly wanted to ride it. Then a year after that Chaos opened at Opryland and I was hooked on coasters. (and folks wonder why I am so bitter towards Gaylord Entertainment). thunderbeast1968
My first coaster was the Big Dipper at Camden Park(WV) Then we started going to Kings Island the first few years of operation. My Mom (Thanks) paid me to get on The Racers. I was very young and wanted a toy or something, in one of the shops. The Beast is still my favorite "wooden" coaster. I remember, when it first opened, there was no tunnel on the helix "Grand Finale" If I remember correctly the cars were not completely red, I remember them kinda fading red colors to a orange (or greenish) can't quite recall. If someone has a picture of the first trains for The Beast, I would love to know where to find it. Please post!!
