jbt Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 So, who's read The Beast and The Beast 2? I'll confess to reading them both last year. I've had the books since third grade and never read them at the time. The first book was all right, but the time kids plot of the second one... yikes. Quote
Beast79 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I love them both! I got the first book when it first came out back in the 90's. Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I remember when I came across the first one at the library. I was so excited and then immensely disliked the plot. Time traveling is a cop out. See: Star Trek. Quote
Jasper Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Read the first one about 40 times probably and really enjoyed it even though the plot is a little cliche. As for the second one I believe I have read it before once but for the life of me I cannot remember what the plot is about. Quote
dudecoasterman Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I read the 2nd one in 3rd grade and have been looking for the first one for a while but can't find it anywhere. Quote
spitfire Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I read them ages ago when I was in grade school and I loved them. I've still got them shoved in an old bookcase somewhere. Quote
jbt Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 In the first one, two kids stay in the park after it closes to ride The Beast. They befriend a ghost and time travel to a (fictional) park that existed on the same grounds 75 years or so earlier. It's worth the twenty minutes it will take you to read. In the sequel, the same kids accidentally end up on The Beast after the park closes when they visit the following year. Once again, they time travel, but end up as prisoners in a freak show about children from the future. It's pretty ridiculous, even compared to the first book. A long time ago, I heard rumors that the first book would be made into a movie. Quote
