Teen leaps from chairlift at Casino Pier

Featured Replies

Yes, it was a dumb thing to do. It doesn't look as though that ski lift is very high off the ground. Maybe that's why she decided to jump - and below her was a sandy beach. The story mentions that the ride ops did not know someone had jumped off. How could they, unless there were cameras or some other special devices installed to monitor those things (I guess that now, you're gonna see cameras and other devices because someone will talk that girl into filing a lawsuit stating the ride should have been closed due to bad weather. This is almost the same as another thread that's currently running about amputees not being allowed to ride a coaster - lawsuits have been filed because of discrimination and lawsuits could have been filed if those amputees would have fallen off of the ride. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.)

I've seen something like this before, where a person sees impending danger and inexplicably bails out of their vehicle (there are videos of drivers, about to bump into another car during ice storms, who will open their doors and try to jump out, etc.). It must be some kind of instinct. Thank Heaven she wasn't on a ride like WindSeeker. Not much sand there.

Man, watching that video gave me cold chills. I hated reading comments on that website on how "dumb" that girl was. Put yourself in that situation yourself, and lets really see how you would react. To sit back and just watch the video and comment, on her stupidity, really? I bet a lot more people might have done the exact same thing.

That storm came thru my area and it scared the crap out of me and I was on the ground.
