CoasterOhio
Visit to Kings Island August 11th, 2012 We were in a 4 team group to Kings Island this day, waking up early to head out at 8:15AM but we didn’t actually leave until 8:25am Had to get to the store for a few In-line snacks and some Ice for the food for Lunch and we where soon of. It was me, my mom, sister, and our friend going to Kings Island. We got there around 9:15am Fine with us. We headed in, got into Diamondback. We rode the rows 3 & 4, plus 13 & 14. Little bit chilly to ride at some points during the ride but still a lot of fun! After that we headed off just as the park opened to everyone. We walked past a CROWD of people going towards Diamondback, in fact Diamondback filled up COMPLETELY within the first 30 minutes of the park being opened and stayed like that all day long. We went to Flight of Fear; it was awful quiet without the video playing because there was next to no one in there. We most likely went on maybe within the first 10 rides that day. After that, we went to Backlot Stunt Coaster to ride that once. I got the front seat on that ride for the first time. It was fun! Next, we went to WindSeeker after that Vortex I got the front train again I just got LUCKY with the front on rides today. After riding Vortex we went across Coney Mall about to head on racers, we were already an hour into the day We found that The Racers was weaving, AND was outside the line. Nope screw that we went on passing other things we finally got to another ride Viking fury. We had screamers behind us (Was deaf for a good 5 minutes after the ride) Now we moved on, we where 2 hours into the day and starting to get hungry. Okay we’ll just get something to drink, ride Invertigo then to Flight Deck and get on out. Nope we just did Flight Deck the line was halfway through the whole line o I didn’t like waiting that long (Little problem with Flight Deck when we rode it) When we were strapped in we were in the front of course. We headed up the chain. Our Friend was wondering why it was slowing down. We said it always does it because of the Block from the other train. Nope, we ended up in a full STOP the chain for it stopped and stopped working. They got it started up within 10 to 15 seconds of it being down. But during that time our friend was like “Does it do this?” when It stopped and me and my mom at the same time said “NO.” I didn’t like it. I never had a ride just fully stop like that before I’ve seen it a while ago on The Beast when someone wouldn’t put their phone way and they stopped in on the chain while a worker came in and grabbed it before they started again. Anyway, we moved on finishing Flight Deck found out that our cup broke on the handle, we’ve been looking for a place that still sells the Diamondback cups the Orange ones. Does anyone know where to find those? After that we ate lunch, came back went to The Beast and had a 75 Minute wait, okay cool. That line moved VERY quickly. Oh and guess what I got the front again. FIRST time for the front of The Beast like that front row, there was NO ONE in it so okay cool we’ll just ride that. We all had a lot of fun on that. I like it in the front actually seems less jerky. Really that was it we didn’t go on anything else. We got to watch the Magic Show at the KI Theater had some fun wondering how the HECK they do that (always baffles me) That was it for the day we had KILLING feat and left the park at around 6ish. We never got to go into the Eiffel Tower I wanted to see how bad the lines where. And how full the parking lot was we can see it on the ground how busy it was. I barely got any pictures this time sadly. So none of those I did manage to get more of SOB but I don’t think I’ll really post them as images on here just typing for now. jcgoble3
Sounds like a good day! Two notes: 1. The Flight Deck stop could still be due to the blocking system if it was only 10 to 15 seconds. The other train may have just been slow coming off the brake run. I don't know whether the computer automatically moves the train forward or if the driver must hit a button to do so; if the latter, the driver may have simply been distracted for a few seconds. I've never seen it stop for that long, but it's short enough that at least in my mind it's still plausible it could have been the blocking system. 2. The orange Diamondback cups were only sold at the park in 2010. A different set of cups is sold each year, and AFAIK the surplus from one year is not sold the next year. If you're really attached to that design, you might be able to find one on eBay, otherwise you'll have to repair it yourself or buy a new, current cup. I really don't think It actually was the block system though I don't see I think the breaks auto locked everything for some reason. But dang it.. We just need the Handle for it though.
