Guest TombRaidersthebest Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 Why is the new ride going to be called Delirium I cant think of any movies by that name, And when did you get that little paper telling you about the new rides. I got mine yesterday and I called my friend and told her who also has a pass and she said she got hers last week. Is my mail slow or just hers fast? Quote
Aaron Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 It's called Delirium simply because that's the name PKI chose. It doesn't have to be named after a movie. I don't remember there ever being a movie called "Son of Beast". Quote
teenageninja Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 I think because it fits the name, Delirium-confusion and it's going to confuse you and spin you around. I think it's a great name, even though it's used alot. Quote
Guest TombRaidersthebest Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Ok I was just wondering. Quote
teenageninja Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Lora Croft is not your sister, you are lora croft, so don't try to pull a fast one. Anyways, Delerium fits the ride perfect, and that's what they wanted. Quote
Chris Pki Fan Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 delrium is a kewl name and the ride looks fun from the pictures hopely it is becouse pki needs a good new ride Quote
teenageninja Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 To tell the truth, I've heard Frisbees are great, so a Giant one can't be bad, but than again some people REALLY disliked Tomb Raider, so I guess anything is possible. It's something we need a good flat/thrill ride. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 As long as they don't decide to box it into a building and make the programming more tame than it should be, PKI should have a winner here. I thought when I first saw it, that it was supposed to flip you completely upside down, but now I hear that it only swings between 10 and 2 o' clock, which brings the intensity factor down a bit in my opinion. I thought this thing would able to hold us upsidedown for a second or two at one point. Still, it's going to look killer swinging around. Should be able to see it all over the park. Quote
Return of D Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Are you absolutely nuts? How can you be disappointed by a 10 to 2 swing? Just imagine if you are on the outside going into the 2. You're way high up there and you see nothing but air. In this case, you'll see the Eiffel Tower and that's it. How could you be disappointed? Look at your clock buddy. 10 and 2 is intense. Quote
teenageninja Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 Yea, 10 and 2 are as close your going to get without having the car ripped off and slung into Son of Beast; which would be the case if it swung all the way around. It is definitely going to be intense, pulling 4.5 g's at the bottom and -4.5 at the top. Quote
Coasterfan Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 I wonder how fast it will swing. It's gonna be really cool. Quote
teenageninja Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 It's has to be somewhere between 35-50 m.p.h. I'm guessing. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 What I'm wondering, is the arm going to be completely controlable like TR:TR? Or is it built like Viking Fury where it's propelled some way then the force of gravity pulls it back? If it's all controllable, why wouldn't you want it to go completely upsidedown? I think it'd be much cooler for the rider and spectator, to have the thing swing a bunch, then as the finale, make the thing do a full vertical stop upsidedown and flip over the other side. They could then control the flip on the move back down to reduce the G's at the bottom. It looks very cool how it will be now, just thought it could do more than I suppose it actually will. Quote
teenageninja Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 I think it's a gravity driven ride, which would explain why it's probably a cheaper ride than Tomb Raider. Quote
Chris Pki Fan Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 If at all posiable they should change viking ship and make it go upside down. is this POSSIABLE? Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 I wish... I doubt it though. It's a pretty old ride and doesn't have the rider restraints required to go upsidedown. If it could I bet they would have tried it by now, and given its age I doubt they'd be able to do any modifications. Sucks, don't it? Quote
teenageninja Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Too many G's and to much stress on the ride. It would never be possible aunless they got a ride that was designed to go upside down. Quote
Coasterfan Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 PKD's ship goes completly upsidedown and stops at the top for a few seconds. Quote
teenageninja Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 It's not the same though, it's a different ride. Quote
teenageninja Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 Yea, the supports are totally different than PKI's Viking Fury, and is engeneered to go upside down, it would take a very strong motor to be capable for PKI to go upside down. Quote
Guest TombRaidersthebest Posted October 28, 2002 Posted October 28, 2002 That would be awsome! Hey do they ever have to change the tires that spin and make them go? Quote
Shaggy Posted October 29, 2002 Posted October 29, 2002 No it is not possible for Viking Ship to flip upside down. Intamin Inverters rely on heavy counterweights, a more complicated restraint system, thicker supprts and arms. Delirium need not go upside down to be thrilling either. Did you know that when a park installs a ride that does an inversion it automatically alienates half it's guests from riding? Stats prove that at least 50% of park guests are intimidated by or avoid rides that loop. I have ridden four different frisbees and can tell you I am extremely excited about Delirium. The thrill that I think most people do not suspect is the air. The spinning will be slow, the height, although tall, will nto be intimidating. The thrill comes from the outward facing floorless seats and the tummy tickle it will produce when it reaches it's highest points. It is a fantastic decision on PKI's part to install this. Return of D Posted October 29, 2002 Posted October 29, 2002 Shaggy is straight up pimp with his info. Obviously a major part of the park, possibly a full-timer. Or just a really crazed fanatic. You tell me! Quote
teenageninja Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Yea I've heard that before Shaggy. Forgot to talk about the counterweights too. And the restraints. Delerium would pull to many G's if it did a full inversion I think. Quote
