Sonofbeast2.0
So I said in my 2012 trip report for HHN that it was so bad we probably won't be going back for 2013... well looks like I am. I hope this year is much better than last but I have a bad feeling it won't be... Now some of you know I love Universal Studios Orlando, I used to love their Halloween event too. I'm hoping this year can bring back that love! I've been 3 years (this will be 4th). Went 2008 (Bloody Mary), 2009 ( Saw, Chucky, Wolfman) and 2012 (No main theme really). 2009 was the best of the 3 with 2008 being a close second and 2012 well... lets just say KI's haunt was better... (not that I have anything against KI's Haunt! Just its usually a 5/10 compared to all the other haunted houses I go to.) Sadly I think Universal's was one of the worst places I went for haunted houses in 2012! They had what looked like the best line up of haunted houses they have ever had! To find out though that it was a bad year. Here is 2013's haunted house line up and scare zone plans:+ Houses: The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City Evil Dead The Cabin in the Woods The American Werewolf in London Urban Legends: La Llorona Havoc: Derailed After Life's Vengeance Scare Zones: The Walking Dead. (please look at post 2 for details) Here's to 2013! Hope it's 10x better than 2012... Note: I will be in Florida for 3 weeks and will also be visiting Disney World.
Sonofbeast2.0
Sorry for double post but some good news! (at least I think so). The Walking Dead, will have scare zones!!! (Walking Dead is the only street experience this year). THE FALL OF ATLANTA The smell of death is in the air as you make your way past an iconic tank, sandbag barriers, and decayed rotting corpses on your journey through this decimated city. But be warned—the city’s not empty. WOODLANDS Tread carefully through these woods, as you never know who you might encounter. Lurking deep in the hidden depths are unforgettable scenes and characters from Seasons 1, 2 and 3. SURVIVOR’S CAMP There’s no one telling ghost stories at this derelict campsite, but there are plenty of undead. Will you dare to go closer to the eerily abandoned RV? Keep your wits about you or you might become a ghost story yourself. THE FARM Something’s burning and it’s not a Sunday roast. Gasoline fumes ignite your senses as you encounter the smoldering remains of a singed country farm. See and smell the putrid barn, the red tractor, and more as you learn what’s causing that horrifying stench. CLEAR Turn around and live—proceed and face your fate. Stick together as you head down this street, because the spiked barriers are there for a reason. If you refuse to heed the spray-painted warnings, you’re in for a terrifying walk that will feel like an eternity. Sorry for "colors", copy and pasted and don't know how to remove the highlighted.. ki95
I love following HHN (even though I haven't been to it yet), but these past 2 years look like disappointments since the event is pretty much now built upon ips & less original. I would love to see the event go back to its origins of being all original (and maybe 1 ip) & less of a promotional for some move franchise that has little or no connection to Universal. But like Mike Aillo said on twitter "there is a time & place for it" hopefully that time & place is next year & on.
upstop
My favorite year was when they had the Undertaker, Jack, The story teller and The director all with their own houses and a show. It was a blast! I haven't kept up the last couple of years.
ki95
I have to say the most appealing years to me were 19 (the usher), 20 (20 years of fear) & 21 (lady luck)
upstop
Just looked at the HHN lineup and it does appear to be rather bland....zombies everywhere. However, Busch Gardens Tampa has a good lineup... http://seaworldparks.com/en/howloscream-tampa/Attractions/Haunted-Houses The Experiment (house) sounds pretty cool. Check it out closely. The test subjects must pay and reserve a time for the experiment....Im assuming that the "witnesses" to the experiment will not have to pay...not sure...but it sounds intense. Just for giggles....

Sonofbeast2.0
I wish CF would invest more in each parks Halloween event... maybe another $50,000-100,000 each park.

RingMaster
My guesses as to where these "Experiences" will go... The Fall of Atlanta - New York. It's got the wide open spaces and urban feel to nail the look of Atlanta after the apocalypse. Plus, they got a tank this year, something only Hollywood's version managed to cram into their maze. I'm reminded of the infamous Deadtropolis scare zone from way back in 2006 which took over the entirety of the New York area of the park. Woodlands - Central Park. It sits in between the Hollywood and kids' areas of the park and its trees hang over the path to provide plenty of shade. The most recent scare zone that took place in this area was 2011's Grown Evil: Survivor's Camp/The Farm - Mel's Drive In or Shrek Alley. There's a spot at the edge of Central Park that sits immediately across from Mel's Drive-In that's been home to several scare zones with eye-popping set pieces, most notably this: That's an actual prop they built that guests were able to walk through as a mini-maze experience. It's a toss-up as to which of these two zones may get this coveted spot, but I would really like to see guests be able to walk through the barn again like they did in last year's Walking Dead attraction. If not, then it would make just as much sense to have Dale's RV parked just on the outer edges of the Woodlands and The Farm go in a more secluded spot such as Shrek Alley (named for the path that sits next to the Shrek 4D and Donkey attractions), also a place that's seen some really nice zones in the past. Clear - San Francisco. I'd put this one here simply because it's a good bet that this year's Walking Dead maze will once again be in the extended queue line of Disaster, and to have a scare zone by the exit for guests to pour out into is a no-brainer. They've usually had it to where a roving band of scareactors patrols the exit area and have gone so far as to have a zone tie into the maze itself (2010's Zombie Gras zone tied into the ZombieGeddon maze by way of a parade float crashing into the power supply of a zombie containment facility). Sonofbeast2.0
If you were Screamscape, you'd just go back and edit your post, then Presto! You were right all along! SHHHH! Don't give people's idea's about "Start Decoding 2015 or 2016 or 2017! for HHN this year I wish they would make some specialty drink that is non alcoholic... That way I can get my brother to get me a $9 drink! I guess I can try a Flaming Moe (some sort of drink you can only get at Universal , they put a chuck of dry ice into the beverage) in Springfield... Have tried Butter beer which is good (I prefer frozen but both are great)! Pumpkin Juice was very good as well! Tasted like a liquid pumpkin pie! It had little flakes of pumpkin in it too. Last year HHN they had INSANE high prices. I think $9.50 for a turkey leg if you were waiting in line for The Walking Dead haunted house! $7.50 for a slice of pizza too! They looked pretty old too. I don't think the zombies would eat them...
The Interpreter
Yeah, but how much were lockers? Terp, cross threading.
Sonofbeast2.0
Actually free! most lockers you get 1hr and 30min free. During haunt I have no clue. On a normal day we would put are cups in the lockers for a ride or two then take them out and then reuse same lockers later that day. You don't loose any time either. like if you had your items in the locker for an hour of the 1hr and 30min and then take them out, the next time you use the lockers their free for another 1hr and 30min. I like how they lock too! it uses your fingerprint to lock and unlock. Ohhhhh now i'm hungry for a double patty cheeseburger from Mel's Diner with a side of chili cheese fries! They offer a meal deal that allows you to eat at 3 or 4 restaurants all day for $22. So the meal at Mel's is technically free! You can also buy a cup for $8 and get free refills all day. Me and my family use this often. We probably eat in the park 4-5 times a day...

ki95
After seeing the commercial (the same thing as HHN Hollywood back in 2010 & 2011) I'm REALLY disappointed with these past 2 years (mostly this year). Very unoriginal & weak, it needs to go back to being an ALL ORIGINAL event :-/ I'm just guessing that they did this whole woods thing just to use that commercial & the unoriginal IPs, very very sad

That being said, the Creative Team is at the mercy of the higher-ups and the Marketing Division, and they have the final say on what shows up at an HHN. So when they look back on years when attendance soared because they had houses based on popular horror movie franchises ('07's deal with New Line Cinema for Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface), you know they want to replicate that almost immediately. Case in point, Walking Dead. Much like Bill & Ted's Halloween Adventure being a staple of Horror Nights, I see The Walking Dead remaining a major player for HHN for as long as the show remains on TV. As for everything else, it all depends on what horror movies debut next year and are well-received enough to warrant a house treatment.
