Just saw the thread on this topic that was closed and wanted to bump it for those who haven't seen it.

I've been watching this the last few days over my lunch break. Very informative about KI's history. I though the coolest part was them sharing the historical significance of The Racer. I had no idea that it was the first roller coaster built in the US in roughly 15 years. It truly inspired a coaster revolution in the US. That's pretty neat.

Sorry, just going off what the video said. At about the 51:25 mark of the video, the guy said it was the first rollercoaster built in the US since 1946. So my math was off, really he was saying it was the first coaster built in the last 25 years!

Maybe he just has dyslexia or something and meant 1964 instead of 1946?

Either way, his is an incorrect statement... some notables were built within that 25-year period. Blue Streak, Matterhorn etc. I think the significance to The Racer is that it received great publicity. Interest in coasters had wained, and The Racer's size and scope drew attention and was news worthy... thus the park got lots of press. That rejuvination of interest is what started the "Second Golden Age."

So the guy was way off, lol.

Oh well, still an entertaining video nonetheless. It would have been nice if they went more in-depth on the other coasters, though.
