upstop
I think a very intense, pay as you go Haunt would go over really well at Halloween Haunt. Perhaps one similar to Alone. where guests walk through in groups of 4 or less. Something dark where they would have to feel their way through, with occasional flashes of lightning to light the way. Something based on a mansion....Perhaps the guests could participate as "paranormal investigators" with video camera's to record their journey that would be emailed to them on the last day of the haunt for a souvenir, as well as a t-shirt . Anyone like this idea? If you like the idea, let's expand the idea, room by room for fun? First outside the house, one guest would be given camera glasses to wear inside. Room 1. Guests are welcomed into a foyer with three doors (unbeknownst to the guests they all lead to the same room) and a table with four items. They are told by a mysterious voice why they are there and that they must choose an item for each member to carry, then to chose their fate by selecting a door.... Groups of less than four people would chose one item to carry of the four. a. a flashlight b. a key c. a map d. a rain poncho next room....anyone want to expand?
Sonofbeast2.0
I don't feel a pay as you go attraction would be cool but instead cut down the haunted houses to 8-6 houses and improve them and scarezones, then possibly making this a separate ticked event. (No free entry for, season, gold or platinum passes. I do know season passes don't get free entry. ) Must buy a ticket at $25-$40 to enter. This would then lower waits and allow for even better quality haunt! But to be nice to pass holders offer a discount (maybe 10-25% off) for admission to haunt. BB1
Make it close to HHN at US, then possibly.
BeastForever
Like I've said before, if I want a more intense haunting experience I can just "pay as I go" elsewhere... Like Dent or USS Nightmare!
Sonofbeast2.0
I want a setup similar to Universal... but nothing like Universal. I want each house to be based on something CF made. Like make fictional back stories to all of them or have something based around the KI "ghost" or Banshee, but nothing has to be based off of movies. I think that is Universal's issue why the quality dropped... They are "Out sourcing" to movies that they don't own the rights in and paying big bucks for that. When it was year 19 With Saw (Saw might not been their movie?) and Chucky and Werewolf, they were using their own movies and that was the best year they have ever had! I want this to feel like a great theme park haunt not like any other haunt out their! KI could come up with some great idea's and so could CF! I've learned over the year's that being based off a movie don't make it a great haunt, it can but not always... I'm wanting something different with KI but not something the same as Universal. elyk
Id prefer just the normal haunts and then one or two upcharge over the top bizarre interactive gory haunts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

When Paramount started this event which then it was called Fear Fest was a separate ticket event. It didn't attract as many guests as they liked so they made it open to season passes and general admission. There are some of us who don't even go for the Haunt in the first place. I go to get some night rides on my favorite coasters. It's the only time of year that you get many hours of night riding in. I would not want it to be a separate event again.
upstop
Woah hold on a second....I have to disagree with that statement. When Fearfest opened it was only International Street, Octoberfest, Paramount theater, Phantom theater and the hall where Carnevil is located. No other part of the park was open...and on the opening weekend the crowds were massive to the point that it was difficult to move. My friend and I were sitting on I Street eating pizza when they announced that the event time was being extended from 12 to 1 am to accommodate the crowds and it stayed there throughout the first seasons event, and beyond. The next weekend they opened up Coney Mall to release the over flow of people from I Street and relieve the congestion. And no other part of the park was open. The next year it was announced that it would be included with Gold Pass as a free event to jack up the volume of Gold Pass sales and make a boat load of money for the park and that's when they gradually opened up the park until the entire adult part of the park was open. It's all about increasing sales and if the park thinks that people will spend more money with a pay as you go Haunt attraction, it will happen. They are certainly looking at what other seasonal parks are doing, and if they can "one up" them, I'm sure they will do that. I wouldn't discount a pay as you go Haunt. Busch Gardens Tampa and Knotts Berry Farm have had a more intense haunt attraction for a couple of years now. At Busch Gardens their pay as you go has been so popular that this year they were taking reservations. I think that it is only a matter of time before one comes to the park, and they are waiting to spring it on us at the just the right time...its strategic. BB1
When I think of "Pay as you go haunt" i think of these thoughts: Welcome to Club Blood, please give the man to your right $5 to enter. Boo! Now that will be five dollars please.
malem
^ Other Cedar Fair parks have introduced a "Skeleton Key" add-on this year. Pay more, and you get admitted to extra rooms inside the standard haunts.
XGatorHead 8904
^I wonder how they manage that.
malem
^ Knott's and Worlds of Fun are the two parks trying it. Presumably there's a Gatekeeper directing those with the pass into the upcharge rooms. It's an add-on to a Fright Lane lanyard. I actually like the idea, as long as they're not hurting the normal experience. Standard haunts are designed to push lots of people through as smoothly as possible, whereas these could be more interactive. Sam probably wouldn't be very happy if he got locked in such a room, though.
XGatorHead 8904
I just can't imagine with the amount of people that we get trying to separate people onto two different paths inside the house.
Spectrum91
^I believe that the Skeleton Key rooms are actually separate "first rooms" of the houses. After the paying guests have gone through the room, the exit of said room merges into beginning of the actual haunted house. Regarding an upcharge house idea, Knott's Berry Farm introduced "Trapped" last year. They posted these fun facts about it in November, shortly after the event ended: Some facts about Trapped...Over 100 people vomited.Over 50 people used the safe word "Boysenberry" to make the madness stop. They were walked out immediately.3 People used "Boysenberry" in the first room. The. First. Room.1 Guy paid to go right back in after his girlfriend said "Boysenberry" in the First Room.Haunt Superfan Neil Patrick Harris, Seth McFarlane and many other celebrities faced their fears and had the time of their lives. (Seth McFarlane did all of the Family Guy voices inside Trapped to overcome his fear. Classic.)Over 45 People simply refused to go in after reading and signing the waiver. Their friends went without them.
RingMaster
Let's let the quality of the haunts Kings Island already has improve dramatically before even considering the thought of adding one that requires an upcharge.
upstop
however, these upcharge haunts help to pay for improvements to the current haunts and other stuff. If KI sees a need there will be one.
