A question about press/media kits

I was curious if Kings Island utilizes press/media kits solely for new attractions exclusively or if they have been used for rebranded/rethemed existing attractions as well? More specifically, were press kits made for the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage and The Beastie? I want to save myself the headache of hunting these two items down, if they don't exist. Any info would be appreciated!

I'm not %100 on this subject but usually children's and family additions are usually expansions. As a result many family attraction Press Kits are bundled into the entire expansion. So finding individual Press Kits in that genre would be difficult. Smurf's Enchanted Voyage was a part of the 1980's expansion of Hanna-Barbera Land when Smurfmania dominated the TV set and The Beastie was a minor change at the time when only the sign and the addition of the tunnel where added so a press kit was probably not needed.

What you have to understand is that the day and age of the press kit has changed. When they debuted the Italian Job Stunt Track, for example, they gave us a folder that had the logo printed on it with photos, a fact sheet, and a CD with the animation and B-roll. With Banshee, it was just a USB drive with essentially the same content. Both were appropriate for the times.

In today's world of social media, even a press release is a "sometimes" sort of thing. Typically it's only for things that are really big deals and you want to send the information to markets that may not be linked with you. I can tell you that they put a lot more into invites to media days than into press kits. If you can intrigue a reporter or station manager with an invite and they show up to media day, it's a guaranteed story.

To answer your question specifically: 10 years ago you could have seen a media kit for about anything, but today a physical media kit is really only for the really big deal stuff. Doubtful that you'll find media kits for The Beastie (Scooby Doo) or Enchanted Voyage since they opened with the park.

All I am really interested in locating are press photos (or professional photos) of the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage and The Beastie. I have numerous press photos in my collection. I've been collecting this stuff since 1999 and know that there are press photos of the original Enchanted Voyage out there (I have a pic on my old computer), but not sure if they ever released a press kit or photos with text once the ride was re themed. I knew The Beastie was a long shot and realize that I will likely have to begin searching old photography dealers that acquired these professional prints for usage in magazines and newspapers - as I did for all the other photos in my collection. My question was more for the past and not the current, but was interested in seeing what responses I would get none-the-less.
