teenageninja
There is one advantage to retractable belts, and that is the patrons can't sit on the belts so we don't have to unlock the train.
coasterrz
I personally have no problem with the seatbelts being added. However, I am slightly concerned with people not being aware of the addition of the seatbelts. Has the park added any signs in the stations of The Racer and The Beast about the seatbelts? If not, there will inevitably people that don`t see the trains loading and unloading ahead of them unbuckling and buckling the seatbelts. I can`t wait till Sunday when I get to finally go back to the park after a long off-season. I look forward to seeing the spruced up Scrambler. RMBryan
I am also hearing that they are retractable belts. Personally I think non-retractable slide belts are a much better option. Beastie's retractables have proven that they tend to jam or get stuck... making it an even bigger challenge to load. they are retractable i saw them on saturday and if they do jam they are no problem. there is a button that we (the ride ops) can push to release them. Shaggy
But here's the real question.... is the retraction mechanism on the outside of the train? Beastie's has it's belts adhered to the side of the train and the belt goes through a slot in the side of the car over the passenger. This means that guests have a hard time reaching them, and if the belt retracts too much, it has to be re-threaded back through the slot. Tick tock... tick tock... tick tock.... PKI_V1
The only thing I am not going to like about the seatbealts is slower loading times, your gonna get those people that either A. dont see the belts and the attendant says buckle please, B. the overweight person is gonna have a problem. C. kids are gonna need help. d. getting out will be an extra step.. But all in all I dont mind them just makes for a slower line to get on the ride... Bryon The load/unload time shouldn't be affected too much, if the person can't fit in the belt, they probably can't fit the bar either, the people that won't realize the seatbelt is there will probably be the same people that leave their bar up until the attendant gets there and there is at least one person on every train that doesn't understand "push down and pull up" on every train so the unload time shouldn't be affected with the extra step of unbuckling the seatbelt. I'm one of those people who leave my bar up until the person comes.
coasterfans
Well my question is why they make the seatbelts on these things so short. Cedarpoint does this on some but magnam has seatbelts that bigger riders can ride, thats only fair in my opinion. I mean i understand safety thats a major thing but isnt there a way for it to be safe and not discriminate bigger people. I mean dont we have the right to enjoy amusement parks, yes I know some of you think well diet well easier said than done. For those of you whove worked with The Racer and beast seatbelts do they expand i mean i have ridden The Racers for years and Id hate to see me not be able to ride becuse i couldnt fit the seatbelt even though the bar fit. And i weight the same as last year and the bar fit, so that wont be an excuse if the belt dont fit then the bar wouldnt. So anybody thats seen these belts working let me know. coasterfans
RMBryan
The seat belts do not change the policy of 2 clicks with the lapbar. My guess is that the seatbelts go about as far as 2 clicks of the lapbar. The seatbelt is and extra safety precaution, not a second option of safety restraint for the guest. As far as bigger guests, I agree that there should be a way for you to do the same things as some of the smaller guests.

PKI_Man
THIS SUCKS! I loved the air time on The Racers and now it's gone? That's like taking the loop out of the Son of Beast! Well think about what happend @ Holiday World, the lady didnt have her lap bar on completely on. PKI is doing this for the safety of the guests, it wont rob you on your airtime, you dont wanna be thrown out.

Beastly Terror Rider
Do you work for PKI? My cousin does and he has a post working The Racers.
Beastly Terror Rider
It's OK to take the lap bars out of The Racers but if they do that to The Beast I will shoot myself. I'll even chain myself to the front seat of The Beast and stay there till they stop.
Tanner
Ok for one, people have lives, they're not on here 24 hours a day to reply to your posts. They're not taking the lapbars out, they've just added some seatbelts to make it safer. Stop crying, you sound like a baby. I'll tell you how they feel when I get home Saturday from my day in the park. I'll have tons of pictures, perhaps some to shut some people up about how "bad" the seatbelts will be.
