APE
My wonderful wife decided to take me to Holiday World for the first time for my birthday coming up on the 21st. We left at 6:30am to make the two and a half a hour drive. No traffic and we made excellent time. It would have been better if it was not for 71 being only one lane for several miles and being stuck behind trucks. When we first pulled up on the park we had no idea where to go and where to park. We did not see any workers in the area so we just pulled into a random lot. There was a diabetes walk going on so I asked one of the guys setting up what the deal was and where I should park. He said I was in the right lot and that all we needed to do was walk through the tunnel under the road and the entrance is right on the other side. So we start getting ready and gather the things we will be taking into the park. I happened to look at my phone and realized that the time changed somewhere on the drive and instead of a half hour wait we had an hour and a half wait thus explaining why no workers were around. We were hungry and decided to go find food. Subway was the only option so we ate there and headed back to where we were. This time there were workers waiting. Free parking is pretty awesome. Finally we get to make our way into the park. We bought our tickets at the window using our TPR discount and got in for $32 each. When they dropped the rope and let everyone we were going to do Raven first but everyone ran there and I noticed Legend was right around the corner so we went there first and walked on. I absolutely loved the insanity of the ride but my wife thought it beat her up too much. Next was The Raven, we sat in the back row per a recommendation from others. It was fun and I loved the airtime on the ride. After the Raven we went to The Voyage. I had been reading for years about this ride and how hyped up it was. Im thinking no way is this ride that good. We rode front seat for the first ride. My mind was blown by how awesome it was, I even drooled on myself at the end of the ride. I now fully understand the hype. From that point on we just walked around and rode everything we could find. Most lines were a few cycles and the longest we had waited all day was about a half hour for our second ride on the Voyage. We also watched the dive show which I enjoyed. We didn't do anything in the water park because my wife had forgot that I was even comsidering it and didn't bring anything with her. I should have reminded her so that's my fault. I really want to get back to the park and do the water side of things. We ended up with three rides on The Voyage, two rides on The Legend, and Two rides on The Raven. The front seat is definitely the place for us on all three as that's where we had the most fun especially on Voyage. If you get the chance I recommend making it out to this park. Onto pictures. From our parking spot. I liked that we had a restroom right there. And free parking! Ready to see what this place has in store. It says #1 coaster for several year...it must have rode different then. Let's see what you've got. Raven station. One of my favorite views in the park, looking at The Legend drop. This thing made me drool on myself. Courtney whooped me pretty bad. These are fun, though I don't think anyone on here likes this type of ride.... Hot Diggity Dog combo. Bacon wrapped and deep fried. It was good.
jcgoble3
Great to see someone else visit this wonderful park for the first time. Definitely try to get back soon for the waterpark; there's a reason it frequently makes top waterpark lists in travel publications. And they have bacon-wrapped hot dogs?! Why didn't anybody tell me this before Thursday?!?
Banshee Back VII
Is there a way we can get those Flying Eagles?
APE
Those hot dogs are by their little kiddie area where Howler is. And yes we rode Howler for the credit.
jcgoble3
Is there a way we can get those Flying Eagles? I'd rather not. They're heavy and virtually impossible to snap. Those hot dogs are by their little kiddie area where Howler is. And yes we rode Howler for the credit. Yeah, I know where Hot Diggity Dogs is. I just didn't know that they now have bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Must be a new item for this season.
APE
Its the signature thing. Its just called the hot Diggity dog. We didnt know either until a thing on the menu popped up on the side saying what it was.
jcgoble3
Hopefully they'll still have them when I return next year.
APE
I imagine they will. The board said cheese was on it as well but I never noticed anyway. It was still good and also on a pretzel bun.

McSalsa
Great Trip Report- on the subject of Raven winning the GT's best wood coaster award from 2000-2003, you do have to remember that these are the Golden Ticket Awards and they can be pretty biased at times, and stuff like Thunderhead, The Voyage, El Toro, Outlaw Run etc etc. didn't exist at the time. It probably rode around the same then as it does today, it's just it didn't have to compete with the sudden surge of modern wooden coasters that have come up recently back in 2000-2003. Voyage may well have "hurt" the most, given it just so happened to rise up in the very same park and thus it "stole" Raven's thunder. I remember people talked about Raven a LOT more pre-2006 than they do today, but when Voyage came up, it became "DA VOYAGE! DA VOYAGE! DA VOYAGE!!!". I feel even worse for Legend, as it was already overshadowed by Raven even before Voyage showed up...and yet that's the one I personally see as the best of the trio. (Even though all 3 are awesome IMO) Also- and as many have stated before- you should hit the waterpark next time. They have a huge selection of water slides, including 2 water coasters, and darn near every slide they have is massive in size. They also have a awesome lazy river, and 2 wave pools. It's actually a huge draw, and one of Holiday World's major selling points- along with the epic wooden coasters and free soda, of course.
APE
I really want to hit the water park. We are planning to go next year for whatever the new ride is. We may even do Holiwood Nights. I want to hit those coasters at night. Im fairly certain I would have felt the same about The Raven from 2000-2003 as I do today. I'll give that 5th drop in the back seat and going over the water the credit it deserves but I wasn't overly impressed and would have still preferred my Beast to the Raven.
XGatorHead 8904
Is there a way we can get those Flying Eagles? Um... no. As jcgoble3 said, they are too heavy and not snappable (although I've heard that someone did snap them once, and they promptly closed down the ride for maintenance to determine what was wrong with it). I love flying scooters, but this is the absolute worst set I've been on... I still ride them though because they're still fun. APE, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Voyage used to be my #1 woodie, but a particularly rough ride on it last year was the final straw and it slipped down to #3. I read that they did some track work on it this year so hopefully it's riding better. As others have said the waterpark is amazing, definitely worth a return trip. I'm kind of sad that this will be the first year since 2008 that I haven't been.
APE
Well I'm not sure how it rode before but I can tell you I really enjoyed the ride and my wife is not a bog fan of woodies and she loved the ride. In the front seat at least. The back was a little too crazy for her
