2ndsout
Hello everyone, I'm local to Cincinnati and this is my first time posting to an amusement park forum (specific to Kings Island). I've lived in Cincinnati for almost 30 years- and even before that; visited KI as a kid... Long time reader from time to time, but this is the first time I have decided to register. Especially since my wife decided that she wanted to buy Gold Season Passes. So- off to a Trip Report. We have already gone multiple times to the park for the 2016 season. We went yesterday (Memorial Day); which at first- I wasn't too thrilled about- but the day turned out to be a good day at the park. I've not been one to visit many public places on national holidays, but I was surprised that yesterday was not as crowded as I thought it would be. I think the most we waited was roughly 15-20 minutes. The family (Me, my wife, and our 9 year old son) were able to ride a good portion of coasters through the day, without any long wait times. We rode Banshee 2 times within the first 30 minutes were were in the park... Delirium, Invertigo, Racers, AE, Slingshot, The Beast, Vortex, Firehawk, BLSC, and WindSeeker (Yawn). Overall a good trip. We left when the park closed at 10PM. Just some general observations. While riding BLSC, I was going to hand our carry bag to the one of que line workers, to which he replied "Oh you can keep it with you..." ??? Okay... that was odd. But didn't have any issues. I also noticed that while in the park- Firehawk is starting to show it's age. I know it was relocated from Six Flags Ohio (formerly X-Flight)... and the paint job on it (Dark Brown) is chipping in some spots showing the former X-Flight Neon Green. Not to mention that it is LOUD, and this has been only the third time of riding it because the previous two times I rode it, I was physically in pain with muscle aches after riding it... yesterday was better, but still the whole "Lie to Fly" is extremely ROUGH on that coaster! When we rode WindSeeker, (first time for me)... it was a bit of a let down and not all that it was built up to be (sorry but seemed to be a $30 Million waste on Cedar Fair's part- honest opinion. I also didn't feel to comfortable only having a lap restraint being that high up in the air- I was expecting to have a shoulder restraint). Invertigo- while not one of my favorites- we rode it because we hadn't been on it in a long time. Sorry- but the coaster, in my opinion- needs to go... it's old and obviously from the looks of it, one set of seats has already been removed from the tail end of the train... It's a bit rough too. Makes me wonder how much life is left in it before it is removed for an almost 20 year old coaster. Just my thoughts and observations from my visit yesterday. -Bryan
Haru-Kun
Wecome, Bryan, to KIC! I've noticed the same thing about XF/Firehawk too, that green really is starting to shine thru again. Personally I love the ride experience, my wife hates it lol Here's to many more enjoyable trips this season and beyond. -Harlan
