Tanna
I loved the KI Petcare, and am wondering about dog owners' experiences, if they had any, of the Red Dog Spa, the new place for KI's petsitting? If next summer is anything like this summer, I won't be leaving my dog alone in the house where electricity can go out and knock out the AC. Existential
My darn mom would use the pet care services all throughout my childhood at both Cedar Point and KI. Nothing was more infuriating then to finally get to either park...stare at those glorious rides just waiting to get inside...and have to go to the little doggie shelter while waiting 15 minutes to get everything settled. It probably is still the longest 15 minutes of my life. Its a good service.
moore271
Over the past two years or so, I've left my little one with them roughly 4 or 5 times, including one overnight stay during Coasterstock this year. The facilities are very nice and clean. The staff is super friendly. My dog seems to love it there. You can even get a cage that has an indoor and outdoor section (as long as it's over a certain temperature). My dog and I both have separation anxiety when leaving each other, and they're accommodating for that as well. I was able to take her into a big play room in the middle of the day on my lunch break away from the park. Thumbs up to Red Dog from this guy.
Tanna
Thank you! I used to visit my dog at the Petcenter also. The indoor/outdoor cage sounds right up alley. She's older, but likes play, and of course, snacks. I feel better about using those facilities. I loved the one at KI, but life goes on. King Ding Dong
Ever bodies dog has different needs. I personally prefer not to travel with my dog if possible becuase securing a 55lb dog comfortably in a car is not easy and probably not very safe for the dog. Also if the I were to have a breakdown dealing with the dog would be a real hassle while trying to sort things out. I use my local mom and pop kennel becuase the shot records are on file so it is fast and easy and he has a large play yard so she is not couped up all the time and can get some socialization. I have also used pet sitters in the past, some professional sometimes a neighborhood girl who has and likes dogs and will take her on walks. It is all about the same price. I think she is less stressed out staying at home. If you use a kennel make sure the bordetella shot is up to date several weeks ahead of time. Made that mistake once and she got it. It was like having a sea lion for a couple of weeks until it passed.
Tanna
King Dong, this would be my local mom and pop kennel. I'm not that far away from KI, but on a hot day, I'd rather my Scottie not be alone in a neighborhood where squirrels trip out the breakers on a regular basis. If the AC goes out at the kennel, at least humans would know about it and rectify the situation.
King Ding Dong
Those darn squirrely squirrels. Never had them trip a breaker but have had them in the attic. Covered the hole with sheet metal and they chew right through it. Then it got personal. Yeah if your dog doesn't have access to a cool basement a house can bake really fast.
