Blackstone to acquire a controlling 65% interest in GWL, forming a new partnership company along with Centerbridge Partners LP.

Fun fact: Blackstone came very close to purchasing Paramount Parks in 2006, but were outbid by Cedar Fair.

Another fun fact: Apollo Global Management (who owned GWL through a leveraged buyout before they were sold to Centerbridge) attempted to acquire Cedar Fair for pennies on the dollar (another leveraged buyout + debt acquisition) but the company was saved by a firm out of Texas called Q Investments that prevented Kinzel and company from shorting their unit holders   in favor of their own golden parachutes.
